Yes yes @humfrz I worry too much, but I had to tell the dude he could've just put them *next* to the door!!

I’ve had modems flip out in the middle of the night sometimes and it takes a few minutes for them to reconnect. Could be worth getting a cheapy one.

I do it for the brown-outs and occasional stupid alley crews. It only takes one moment of power loss to be incredibly frustrating waiting for everything to boot back up and sync, especially the cable modem.

i actually learned of this back from my camera dvr days. there were a number of installations that would have entirely oddball issues that weren't explainable to anyone. we would remove the dvr for repair, bring it back to the office, and it would run perfectly for however long it was connected on the repair bench. but then bring it back, and within the first week, usually first 1-3 days, the same issues would start popping up, and customers would get really angry that we weren't fixing the issues that not even the manufacturers could explain.

i don't even remember how it came up, but someone suggested installing UPS' at those locations, and it immediately solved many of the oddball issues.

it's not always a problem, and entirely possible the power in your area is solid and it is an unnecessary step, but after it consistently solved the issues that no one could explain, it became part of our standard installation package because it eliminated oddball callbacks.

so i highly recommend it simply because i've seen cases where it makes a difference and it's relatively cheap insurance.

Haha don’t expect much from me. Due to rona, I haven’t bowl in a very long time. Prob last time I bowl was summer ‘19.

When this crazy rona things calm down, maybe all the Random Thought thread members meet to do some lunch/dinner plus some stuff. I know, Tcoat will come... as long as that place got casino. lmfao maybe Vegas to redo ‘13 FT86CLUB 86EXPO @ Las Vegas. Just this time, change that to ‘22 FT86CLUB Random Thought @ Las Vegas! lol

Lol it's amusing that you think you will have time for that when you will have a 1 year old in 2022.

I love Vegas, I have a timeshare next to Southpoint which has a famous bowling center. And don't worry when I'm traveling I usually don't have all my equipment just a pair of shoes... On a house ball I'm not going to bowl that well anyway.

Finally cleared out my primary browser cache, cookies, and history. It had gotten so bad that some sites stopped loading altogether. Now I get to spend the next couple of days remembering just how many sites I've enabled MFA for. (all of them that support it)
