How about them internals

Did a pretty good search and can't find much. Simple question. Are the rods forged or not?

They are likely shot-peened or something. The crank being nitrided shows they at least put some attention toward making the parts stronger.

I guess the non forged rods are a cost reductions cuz having a strong crank with weak rods kinda defeats the purpose.

Most import cranks have been forged since the 1980's. But rods are rarely ever forged on NA engines. The STI rods are forged, which begs the question, why upgrade?

Pistons are going to give out way before rods anyway. And even a cast, shotpeened rod will still handle good power reliably. Sintered rods should do decent as well. The design for the FA20 rods isn't very common. But with people already pushing 400whp+ the rods have to be decent.

agreed! the low torque that this engine produce is keeping the rods/tranny alive.
