Aim Solo steering angle reading

So I just got my car aligned and everything is fine except the wheel is slightly off center. Before taking it back I decided to see how off it was as it might be helpful for getting the wheel back to center.

To my surprise with the wheel a bit off center to the left it was reading 0.9 If I move it every so slightly from where the alignment tech put it I get 0.0 but are talking like less than an inch of movement.

Trying to center it only made it "worse" If my wheel is dead center I am seeing 3.3. The car and aim solo along with the alignment are all new to me so I have no clue if this is normal..

What sort of steering angle readings are you guys seeing on your aim solo's with the wheel straight.

Is it possible your steering wheel was swapped out at some point and is off by a tooth or something? That's the only other thing I can think of that could be the cause, though I haven't really looked at my steering angle data to be honest

it is possible. Was curious if other people were seeing the same or not. I was looking at some data from highway driving and the readings are mostly under 1.0 so I don't think anything is wrong beyond the wheel is slightly off center

Make sure the steering rack is centered, and the alignment is such that "straight" on the wheel is 0 thrust angle.

Thanks. Any tips on checking if the rack is centered ? This car was written off 3 months from new due to front end damage so it is possible the rack was replaced.

You'd have to refer to your alignment and body shop for that; the sensor reading "0" should also be dead center mechanically.

Ah so the alignment tech should be able to check got it.

I might just bring it back to have him center the wheel and make sure the steering angle reading is 0. I assume if he centers the wheel and it shows beyond 0 it means the rack is not centered
