Hate that OP lost his engine and isn't getting warranty work. Sucks. I am interested in people pushing these to the limits to find the weak points. Ready for tuning to be available and for people to start boosting. Curious if the FA24 will be generally stronger or weaker than the FA20.
Warranty is for factory defects in materials and workmanship not for exceeding the operating specs of the machine. When people push it beyond the limits and the "weak points" appear it should not be the manufacturer (which ends up being the consumer anyway) that is paying. The same applies once people start tuning and boosting. It won't be that the engines are weak or strong but more how far were they pushed for things they were never designed to handle.

Yeah, for sure, agreed. Operator error should not be covered under warranty. Still sucks for the person that it happens to. All engines are built with a factor of safety. Like a honda K series or 2JZ, are well over built. I know the FA24 isn't nearly up to those, just curious where the failure points will be.

We now have one valuable datum point.

Not trying to be cryptic. I assume Subaru reads this board. So waiting on resolution before I type out entire story.

ECU data came back clean, no over revs.
12 track days and one autocross day since I’ve owned it.
Subaru dealer drained oil and found metal then pulled the pan and found RTV.

It looks like this story will be resolving in the next few days.

I wonder if fuel dilution of the oil may have some effect on the silicon gasket?

If you have enough fuel dilution to cause issues with silicon then blocked passages are the very least of your worries.

I feel a bit bummed out and disappointed. I've been an instructor for the region's Porsche, BMW and various other clubs, I have pretty much been a ambassador for the 86 platform for the pass 7 years at the HPDEs.
Do you have a public version of that video? Can't see it.

video doesn't really matter. it was 2 minutes of footage, 2 FULL LAPS before the engine had audible signs of issues. the video has less bearing on this situation than what i had for dinner.

Looks like its a regional thing. Plays fine for me in the US.
