I was looking at backseat cam online & Amazon to see if there’s any good one. My wife have it on her WRX… but the quality isn’t that good (480p?) plus require so many wires inside, it kinda bugs me. So I was looking at wireless backup cam. Found few & test em out. All of em had minimum of 1080p w some that come monitor & some that you can used your phone to monitor make things easy, it was less wires too! But their night vision sucked. It’s all black & can’t see at all. So not sure what to do.
With all the dash cam & backup cam available, I would of expected to have some decent baby bestseat cam… clearly I was wrong. Do I need baby backseat cam? No, but it’s nice to have. Mirror do work, but at the night it’s pitchblack, so it’s same result as wireless backup cam. |

lol, it's literally 1 model repeated over and over again... small format camera's like that generally lack night vision, so yea, you're out of luck.

Right? It’s same damn thing, just different way to mount it. That’s the thing, I’m not expecting to be small. It could be big as some of wifi cams like this. This had decent day time vision & night time vision was hellova better than those baby cams. If some brand make it w top cam lens instead of bottom’s cam lens give monitor or phone option, I think, they got a great product that will beat almost all the baby backseat cams Yes, I’ve tried both cams (plus few other cams). |

No, you don't need a backseat cam. If the baby is quiet it's asleep - leave it alone. If the baby is fussing, reach back and stuff a pacifier it its mouth. If the baby is crying, stop, change its diaper and give it a bottle. Rinse and repeat until you get to where you're going.
Back in the day, we either used one of these or a blanket in an orange crate. |

@ichitaka05 I have a sorta novel idea. Wyze cam. They are powered using usb. Pretty dang good night vision (I use it at night to check on haru when he's sleeping and it's dark). It should be more than sufficient for a backseat. I would assume a car charger should be sufficient.
Although only thing is it may require wifi router... check if there's a way to avoid that. Or maybe a similar camera that you can connect to directly with a phone. I think I've heard of similar cameras for hunting perches and I doubt those are connected to a wifi router.

New HL do have hotspot feature… but requires subscription which is $25/month. It’s a small price to pay… but before going that option, I’ll just buy low quality baby cam w all the wires lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'd be tempted to just use a baby monitor hooked to the hotspot on my phone. Frankly, you aren't going to need it/want it for nearly as long as you think. Once they start talking it won't be necessary. You could also look at remote trailer monitors (essentially backup cameras) or a "spy camera" with night vision.

Random Thoughts - Part Deux [NO POLITICS]
The city came by and tagged a bunch of abandoned vehicles on the road next to our building to tow. They have been there for weeks. The police just came by and told us we should move all vehicles parked over by there since they tend to burn their cars when they get marked for tow.
Awesome
