Wiper blades are actually a standing joke with my wife and me. I bought blades from Costco for our old 300M and waited for two years to actually put them on. Eventually the blades were pretty bad so my wife handed me the blades and watched me put them on. It took roughly three minutes. She said, "is that it?! I waited two years for that?!" To be clear, it was all in fun.

To this day, when there is stuff that needs to be done she'll say, "is this a wiper blade thing?"

Could have been worse. Could have been your honeymoon!

I don't buy this "batteries last three-five years" thing at all. My 1977 Subaru DL needed a new battery at almost 11 years. My Scion xB needed one at over 11 years. My Chrysler 300M needed one at 10 years.

And now my 2013 FR-S, at six years, has been sitting for two weeks with temperatures in the single digits. I bought a battery for it yesterday at Costco and, before I removed the battery, I thought I'd try to start the car.

It started right up. I'm returning the battery to Costco today.

Sticking with the theme of the thread, if your FR-S is your "daily driver", your battery will probably last a decade. BTW, it's at 162k miles now.

It was -39 degrees Fahrenheit here earlier in the week.
That was the ambient temperature before adjusting further downward for wind chill.
That is really the wrong time to find out that you waited too long to replace a car battery.

My wife was just giving me shit last night because the new wipers I bought before LAST winter for the Honda are still in the garage. I better get on that.

FYI - I put a Bosch Platinum in my BRZ a little over 2 years ago and living in the northeast I have dealt with lots of cold days and never had an issue and recommend it. Got it from PepBoys and they always have some coupons to bring the price down.

-39 before wind chill? Where the hell are you? The lowest I heard was Chicago and that was "only" -23.
I spent a bit of time at an artic base that averages around -30 so -39 sounds a bit off.

In a low spot not too far from Fargo.
I believe it was locally reported that we were colder than McMurdo Station. (But I think they would be having summer about now so maybe not a good comparison.)
It was not a good night for the brass monkeys.

DAMN! Glad I am in the warm south where it only hit -20.

I'm on my second battery at 157k miles and it seems to be on the way out. Temps get no worse then low 30F for the most part. It's been slow to turn over in mild temps and has died on me twice after sitting in the car for only 10 min listening to the radio recently. So ymmv.

Mine was gradually slowing down for the last month or so. Yesterday it was -20 and the car slowly cranked twice and then clicked. I have a booster pack and it fired right up without hesitation when I hooked it up. It was only -13 when I went home so it started however it was a very slow crank. This morning it was -17 and although it was the slowest crank ever it managed to start the car. All in all I have never had a slow crank from it in past winters no matter how cold so I know that battery is toast. It is tomorrows project!
