That's pretty much what I do with it. Sometimes I will add a touch to the oil before I stir fry something. I pretty much put Gochujang and Sriracha on everything.

Tried a new stew recipe last night. Unfortunately my $9 corkscrew could not open the bottle of red wine that I bought to use for it (I'm not a wine drinker) so I had to waste a bottle of my favorite german beer. Came out great, though. Just think it needed a bit longer to simmer the beef before adding the veggies:

I still though cannot figure out wtf the recipe is that I used last year and posted on here because that was the best stew I had ever made.

Pro tip: If the cork falls apart, just shove it into the bottle. I felt so dumb when I was first shown the trick. "Duh!"

The canned wine is pretty cool to be honest. Especially if you just want a one-off and don't want to kill a whole bottle.

It's ironic that cheap wine is distributed in the most robust and protective packaging while the best stuff is still at the mercy of a cork.

I don't know how well the plastic bag would hold up for thirty years in a dingy cellar. Probably no worse than the plastic corks that have replaced the real ones.

We are not wine drinkers and have no clue about it but had (past tense) a bunch around behind the bar for several years. At Christmas time we had a friend over that works at the liquor store and she started looking at the half dozen or so bottles we had. She said we better check them since we stored them all standing up. Apparently that is a bad bad idea. The ones with corks were all a wonder vinegar. The one with a screw cap was the only one that was still even remotely good.

The problem with many high in reds and bottle caps is aging. Cork stoppers allow a wine bottle to breath slowly or exchange air over time. Bottle caps don't let any air through at all.

I did read a while back how some group was trying to design a screw top with some sort of bag on the inside that would release oxygen to try to mimic the natural inefficiency of cork. Don't know if they succeeded.

A nice Pinot I buy often has a screw top.

I had no idea. I thought it was supposed to age with a perfect seal. Great wine is the highest expression of artisanal process. Black magic.
