how effective would it be to just have larger naca ducts without the large vent in the front?

I'm guessing that it'd be even worse than no ducts at all, since there'd be no where for the air to flow out. The NACA ducts might add positive pressure to the engine compartment; reducing the airflow through the radiator. IMHO, the vent is the most important part of this hood. As I understand it, the vent allows hot air to exit the engine compartment and also creates negative pressure, which draws more air through the radiator than no vent at all. The NACA ducts are secondary to that.

I wonder what it'll look like paint matched to the car.

Not sure I follow you - can you describe what you're envisioning?

OK, got my hood on Thursday. I bought it to reduce under hood temps during stop and go traffic in summer, and to increase efficiency of the radiator by increasing airflow on spirited drives. It should work the same as cutting vents in the OEM hood, which I didn't want to do. I'm not expecting it to reduce peak oil temps but to aid in coolant recovery time between pulls during occasional canyon runs.

I'm leaving it unpainted (it comes with a clear coat) because it's an additional cost, it blends in pretty well with my DGM car, and if I ever need to return to stock, it's easier to sell an unpainted CF hood.

Observations - it's very light and rigid. The backing structure around the perimeter makes it stiff, and it doesn't feel flimsy at all. The rear corners are slightly high (maybe 1/8"), so I've let Joel know about that for future builds. No biggie to me. All the holes for the OEM rubber/plastic seals are drilled and the seals transfer over perfectly. I got mine with the tubes to direct airflow from the NACA ducts down to the coil packs, but I haven't installed them yet. There's probably no need to install them for daily driving, but might be nice to have them for canyon runs or track.

I'd say that's the best looking hood I've seen so far!

i want to put one on my 86 in france, i'm edelbrock supercharged, jackson racing dual radiator, built engine etc

i want one to reduce the temp + put out the air at high speed because stock hood flex on the sides at 150mph+

the big question is will it be safe to drive sometimes in germany at 186 mph with stock latch ? or will i take it in the windshield ^^

If I was planning on driving that fast, I'd definitely install hood pins.

Any chance this will fit the Cosworth Supercharger? Thanks!

Something I've always wondered about extraction vents (which made me hesitate about installing one in my other cars): does the heated air get sucked into the cabin, either through the cowl vent or open windows? It might be fine in Winter but definitely would suck in summer...

TIA

Edit: p.s. nice looking good. Very clean and finished look...

MPH Carbon Fiber hood with reverse scoop and NACA ducts!

The orientation of the ducts doesn't matter that much in this case, since they are so close to the windshield. This is a high static pressure area, as opposed to further towards the front where the extractor is, which is a low static pressure area. The high pressure will force air into the engine bay even if you turn the NACA ducts backwards.
