Thoughts on Nitrous

Hello, I am relative new to modifying and wanted to know if it is safe to run Nitrous in my Subaru BRZ? Reason I am going with nitrous due to not have enough money for the turbo or supercharger and I’m not planing on getting one near the future. Just wanted your honest opinion on going with Nitrous. Thank you!!

PS. I have a custom stage 2 tune from delicious tuning with E85.

NOS can be run on any car really but to do it right and safely will require spending a good chunk of change not too far off of a basic low psi turbo kit.

A very small 20-30 shot on top of FBO e85 if done properly shouldn’t really be much risker than a FI setup. Just don’t get too greedy and turn her up too much or cheap out and not do it correctly.

You’ll want to talk to your tuner about the safest setups and what’s even possible. Ideally you’d have it wired to a 0-5v input so you’re ecu knows when you’re spraying and the tune will auto adjust to accommodate fueling and timing and whatever other changes this should make it relatively safe on a very small shot.

When doings Fi or nitrous I would still have the rainy day fund for a new engine just in case.

I don't know, are the pistons in these engines cast of forged? My guess is cast.

Nos is like crack.
Take a small amount to enjoy a party, take too much you start to suck a man popsicle for the next hit, while your whole like brakes down.

Joking aside if you are using nos just for drag racing, just buy a better car.

Not really such thing as cheap nitrous. yeah the kits are cheap but its one of those things where you really shouldn't use it if you don't have the money to replace the engine when it blows. yeah you can do a 30 shot relatively safely but people don't buy nitrous to do that shit.

I would just skip it and save up for a SBD Turbo kit. Best bang your buck kit for this car.

I think with the amount of money you would need to keep it sustainable it may be a better idea to plan out forced induction and then slowly save up for it lol.
