Zay's Toyota 86

Hi everyone

first of all, my first language is not English so try to ignore all my mistake plz
slowly getting there right?

this is all about long build with date and feedback for my aftermarkets part.
follow by the auto x and track video

the example for review format

"yyyy.mm.dd
modified part name
feedback"

I had a 2016 Scion Frs for 2 years. First impression to drove the gt86 was remember me the go kart when I was turning into corner, then I had 2 track day on bone stock and i love it. Forgot to mention that is my first time to drive manual car exp in the drive school. After that two years lease, the 2017 Toyota 86 come out with a 5 hp power increase. By the same time, I need change my brake pad, rotor, brake fluid, engine oil, transmission fluid, diff fluid..... u can count it how much it could be to prepare my next track day, therefore i went to test drove the 2017 86 which give me a very solid feeling compare to 2016, a bit different clutch point, a smaller steering wheel, a short gear ratio, never feel the diff difference between 16 and 17. So i decided to get another lease on 2017 86 with better deal. I had one more track day with my 17 86 as bone stock which i feel i cant push my self anymore. Best time on VIMC is 1:36 at that time.

MXP Comp RS TI Tips Catback Exhaust System - 2013+ FR-S / BRZ

it was all start as a accident which was on Xmas eve, i was parking the car on my friend's driveway at a snow day, after 10 mins the car slide back into a rock beside the driveway, and my exhaust tip got damaged

here is the review on mxp comp rs ti tip cat back, sound good not so loud not too quiet. It is below 95 dB for sure, I have no problem on VIMC since most track has their sound limitation. it is very nice in the city, but the con part is on the highway. Since the 17 get short gear ratio, 6th gear around 90-100km/h which rpm will stay around 2500. it is require a very light throttle control, otherwise it will be very annoying. 5clicks more on stock speaker in city, 10 clicks more on the highway compare to the stock cat back.

one more thing, i find out the air drag will be the problem with this cat back. There is huge empty space just in front of the rear bumper, and our bumper is a inverse "C" shape. It is looks like a parachuting, something like stock spare muffler will be much better to solve this.

PERRIN EXHAUST HANGERS - 2013+ FR-S / BRZ

WEATHERTECH FLOOR MATS - 2013+ FR-S / BRZ

Weather tech floor mats is very good, it is covering the carpet just under the gas pedal. but little touch on the gas gate switch, not too bad but yea it does leave some scratch on that plastic.

MOTUL 8100 ECO-LITE 0W20 OIL

Motul 1L Transmission GEAR 300 Gear Oil 75W90

I cant feel any difference after change the engine oil, but I do feel some thing with the gear 300 for my transmission. It is a bit better after u changed the fluid anyway, but it is feel not smooth when the car not on the working temperature. After u car is warm up, it is whole different story.

Motul 1L Transmission GEAR 300LS Gear Oil 75W90

Hawk DTC-60 Brake Pads (Front) - 2013+ FR-S / BRZ

I really like this brake pads, pretty strong instant bite at beginning, lineer bite increase with the pedal pushed. here is a graph i draw for my feeling about the pad.

Stoptech Drilled Rotor Pair (Front) - 2013+ FR-S / BRZ

this is my first time using after market rotor, i don't know much about drill and slot. It was a mistake for just being cool.
with the hawk dtc 60, the rotor is not strong enough to hold the pad.
just check it recently, pad have tons life time left, but the rotor is fked.
going to switch to DBA T3 4000 for my next pad and give it a try.

StopTech Stainless Steel Brake Lines (Front) - 2013+ FR-S / BRZ
K&N High Performance Oil FIlter - 2013+ FR-S / BRZ

overall, without turbo we should stay with the oem calipers since it is going to be change frequently if u tracking the car. a big BBK wont help much and will cost way too much.

Enkei RPF1 Wheels 17x8 +45mm (Gold) - 2013+ FR-S / BRZ

It is really painful when I did the research on the wheel size and tire size just make sure i dont mess up anything with factory setup, I really like the factory set up a bit body roll but really help understand what is going on with the car. It is working well at VIMC exp one corner, we got a lot of off camber hair pin corner. So softer really help u dont losses the rear end.

with the stock suspension, I am using square set up 17x8 +45 with re71r 245 40 17. It is looks very meaty.

Toyota has their TPMS install in the end of the steam between tires and wheels. I end up bought 4 of them from dealer, and keep the stock for the winter.
You also need hub ring to center up the wheel on the hub. ps: get a steel one they r going to get hot under heavy braking.

Bride zeta III type L bule Logo

I order them on the ins: bridejapancanada
very good experiences, the guy behind it always posting review of wheel and seat on the youtube.
I am 183cm tall with 180kg weight and waist 44.5in
It is a tighten, but still good.

Nagisa Double locked seat bracket

The reason I choose this bracket is super low, the seat almost seating on the floor without any effort
I got this from evasivemotorsports, the only thing I had buy from USA.
The good news is they can shipping the item to Canada with flat rate if i did not remember it wrong.

I did some permit paint just wanna to prevent the rust

and I was planning to install the control arm and camber blot myself
but just being lazy, was thinking it should be around $100 more but yea
it was $210 for installed those two

anyway, it is most expensive alignment i had ever done
but the result is great
overall very good alignment, but wont ask them to do any installation for part tho

car drive amazing
they did their best for caster a bit off but acceptable

i think the front and rear was not done by the same guys from factory
the rear just perfect from factory, and it is explain why my rear tire wearing so even
i did change 2 front tires before the alignment

the closest event will be auto x, will test it all!

16 Scion Frs

with bone stock had been there 4 times, pb at 1.36
and i decided to change tires and brake pads

Motul Eco 0W20 engine oil

RPF1 17x8 +45 RE71R 245 40 17 all around

Front Hank DTC 60 brake pad

Front StopTech Rotor

Front StopTech Brakelines

others r stock a racing seat maybe my next move, it was my first time used re71 had used stock tire all the time. way much better compare to before the pads were really getting hot since this is our last section. best around 1.28~1.29 from video this time. it was huge improves compare last time with stock tires and brake pad stock on 1.36 average is 1.30 this time

set my new best time as 1:2581
it could be wrong, the data is mass up
but i did it twice at 1:2581 and 1:2598
go pro only got one section when i link the lap timer with go pro
found on video very close to 1:26 just between video1 and video2
if the lap timer did more accuracy on start and finish time, it could be right

the trail braking really open to a new world, a lot of things to improve
new references point
and try to be constant next time
will do it again in end of Sep
and i am already paid
hopefully no rain this time

Great driving! I've always wanted to drive at VIMC, but the trip is so expensive with the ferry ride.

Do you plan on going to any other tracks?

Hey mate. Great to see you using your car in the way they were intended.

My advice is to aim for consistent lap times. Then you can start to test different things and measure their effect. If you are not consistent you will not know if any changes to driving technique have made a difference, or if it is just random error.
