PPG Gearset

So I’ve got a turbo brz currently making 400+ and haven’t seen anything posted in here about the Ppg gearset only a few things about the pars gearset would people be interested on me following up with this thread? The trans will get the full 1-6 gearset along with anything else I can do Including the carbon synchros and all. Trans should be built by next week and installed soon.

It retails for 7,100 I believe plus the synchros and what not but I got about 5k to 6k miles out of my stock trans with motul fluid and clutch arm and pivot at 420 wheel which will soon be turned up

Excited to see how well the gearset works for you! Any reason you're avoiding the CD009 swap? Fitment obviously is one good reason

I had wanted to go with there swap kit but then if that transmission breaks I have to buy a new one from them to machine the input shaft and even tho the cd009 is pretty strong stock parts still break and they don’t always put up to the abuse also have to cut out the tunnel and what not I did think of doing a 2j but I like the idea of the fa20 I’ll keep you posted on the gearset for sure. I also am some what impatient and did not want to wait 3 months since there on back order.

I could purchase a used turbo miata with money to spare. It had better handle any power you throw at it. The rest of the trans can disintergrate and the car into dust, but this part better be mint for that money. lol

420whp would translate to roughly 330-350wtq. The real question is what was he doing when it blew. Just a 3rd gear pull, or a launch, or a 5th gear interstate pull

Well not sure how familiar you are with the trans but 4th gear is the weakest and was already starting to lock me out all the time and then I did a small pull and it blew which didn’t come to no surprise these trans can’t really handle much.

While we are talking about ppg and pars, is there anyone here with feedback on the pars set?

Obviously straight cut are very loud vs helical. They can handle much more power though, hence the reason why they are used in motorsports, where reliability and performance matters more then comfort. Unfit for daily driving use though. I doubt there are people willing to accept loud gear whine during long drives, when engine sound drawns in that whine
