Replacement front sway bar bushings - no slit?

Went to go install some new 18mm STi front sway bar bushings on my BRZ and discovered that there is no slit to allow for an easy install! My question is: do I cut a slit myself? Or just power them on over the square bar ends with lots of lube?

The slit on the OEM bushing seems to be on the side:

I fitted them on mine, no need to boil them, you can just put them in hot water from a tub...

I know, strange right! But I'm nearly positive the front bar is 18mm just like on the 2013 BRZ tS. On my beater camry, the rear sway bar bushings also have a 17 on them but are on a 16mm sway bar...

Should've done this but went with the boiling route. Then I grabbed the sway bar like a spear and stabbed the bushing. Went right through, almost prefer this to the split bushings as a solid bushing should be stronger all around?

The STi front sway bar is the same of all other models, and those are their bushings.

Subaru seems to under size the rubber bushings by 1mm. If you look on the parts site for the 18mm bar the bushing description says 17mm. The bushing for the 14mm rear bar also says 13.

Any reason you went with the STI bushing instead of poly? Maybe looking for middle ground between that and stock?

Ahh that makes sense, probably the most snug that way.

I got rid of poly in the front to reduce the shock of hitting bumps. I noticed that STi does stiff rubber in the front while doing standard rubber in the back, whereas TRD does stiff rubber in the front with poly in the back. If STi and TRD refuse to do poly front, I’m gonna give it a shot to see why if any reason at all.
