A different perspective on price.

Yesterday I pulled up at a restaurant and was seated near the window where I could see my car. I saw the waiter/owner walked out and started walk around my car and peaking in. I went out and started talking to him about it. Another person who just pulled up walked over as well. I started showing both of them the car then they asked how much it cost. I told them just under $30K out the door. Both of them were shocked at how inexpensive the car was. They both said how nice it looked and how well equipped it was. The guy that just pulled up said he is going to discuss it with his wife about buying one.

I guess for people who knows nothing about this car when seeing it for the first time expect the car to cost a lot more.

Those same people often expect it to have more than 200hp though.

Actually they didn't say much when I told them it had 200hp. They just love the way it looks and the way it was equipped. The waiter/owner asked me if it had a V6 or V8. I told him 4 cylinder then he said, it must be good on gas.

It doesn't have an i4. Boxer configuration. Its good to see some people who aren't hung up on power though.

Yeah I spec'ed out a 1 series with the same options as the BRZ limited (HIDs, Leather, Push button start) and it was over 40k. Obviously the interior quality doesn't even come close to a BMW but I can't think of any cars with a nicer interior under 30k (ok the GTI is pretty nice). It's funny, people who don't know a lot about cars will think that 200hp is plenty, people who do know a lot about cars will know that 200hp is plenty in such a light car, it's only people somewhere in the middle who complain about the power. And for some reason they all seem to post on Jalopnik.

Actually I drove a 135i when it first came out, the interior is not as nice as you think.

Non car people are just ignorant. There have always been cheap, beautiful cars going around (well at least since I've been buying).

Yeah, I've had the, "Is that a porche" and "I've never seen a Subaru like that" ect. Never heard a bad thing about the car. I feel like the suspension can be a little tight for in town driving but I just do my best to avoid going down the bumpy roads.

Some cute girls were parked next to my friend's BRZ yesterday and we heard them comment "maybe we shouldn't have parked so close to this sexy Subaru"

Benz Interior > BMW.

FYI,.

However, most sports car are priced high, so it's only fair for people to assume it's expensive.

Woo.
