Poor gas mileage

Hey everyone,

I have always gotten poor gas mileage with my auto BRZ. They claim 28mpg combined, but I was consistently getting 21mpg (average). So...

I was having rough idle with my 2013 BRZ and the dealer reflashed the ECM.

Since then I have gotten a combined 25mpg!

I had "reset" the ECM many times with the battery disconnect (that did nothing). The dealer reflash fixed my MPG issue. Thought people should know!

Need more info. I avg about 21 with a MT, but my commute is 7mi in stop and go traffic with a max speed of about 40. The minute I go on a trip on the highway, I can avg over 30.

I average 22.9 MPG about 70% city driving in my manual FR-S... only once did I ever get it above 30MPG

I've gotten as low as 16MPG

Well it is not fully broken in yet and driving habit would affect the mpg.

It was slightly used so it has nearly 3k miles on it.

Driving habits are huge.

In the span of three days I had three fillups, two in one day they went as follows:
26 mpg, 12 mpg, 29 mpg
There was nothing wrong with my car and if you exclude the 12 mpg I was beating the EPA ratings, the first and last fillups were a mix of freeway and city driving (commute) and the middle tank was a full track day.

See fillups 45-46-47, not sure why they're numbered out of order...

Without a good idea of the sample size it's hard to judge if there was something wrong with your car or if you decided to wake up a half hour earlier for work and have a lighter commute.

Normally around 26 combined. Drove like an old lady for a week and got it up yo 32 (but was really boring) so fun driving habits rule your mileage n
