A bummer for sure, but I have faith that you’ll come up with a creative solution to get it all mounted again!

It’s honestly a lot required for the swap. It’s $100 for the 2 crossmember supports but only $40 for the new boomerang braces. But with the new braces using 2 of the old skid plate holes, the new skid plate is required ($200) which means the new transmission cover ($100) is also required. Finally, the new transmission cover bolts to a new transmission support ($75 used, the silver brace under the transmission mount) so you will need that too. Lots of new bolts too.

You will also need a new passenger side plastic trim piece where the skid plate plastic pop clips snap into. You can see they redesigned the heat shield and even deleted the mounting tap that is predisposed to melting. Driver side piece is the same for 1st and 2nd gen.

The gr86 has m10 holes on its new front crossmember for the braces, but I just reused the m8 holes with large washers.

Finally I had to hammer down this vent that appears on the new skid plate to clear my HKS header. It fit fine with the old skid plate so I’m confused on this.

I did the install because my stock transmission cover is destroyed from mistreatment and I had a stripped crossmember support beam.

I’m really exited to see the TSSfab rear subframe when that comes out.

Thanks for the detailed info! Sounds way more involved than me just swapping in the 2018 tS stuff I already have, so I think I'll just stick with my original plan.

Yeah your 2018/20 STi front crossmember setup is just as good if not better than my GR86 setup.

Ive had a shop bavel the overpipe so it doesnt rest on the frame, i also shifted the pipe a **** hair by rebolting the pipe in a slightly altered position. I also installed megan racing motor mounts and i can say I am satisfied.

Also TSSFab is willing to send me the bungs for the frame so i can get them welded and have the factory trays mount up. Ive sent them pictures, hopefully ill find a way to do so but for now i just drive carefully and a lot less frequently until i come up with a solution.

On another note, the motor mounts were pretty easy to install since the new subframe has a smaller footprint. It helped a lot with the installation.

They use larger bolts for the steering rack, requiring you to drill out the bushings. The rear sway bar bracket mounting bolts were wrong on mine though. I asked about what the correct ones needed were and got no answer.

I really like it and it added a bunch of room for my swap.

The "larger bolts" were larger than the bungs welded on the frame, it wouldn't have worked even if i drilled out the steering rack bushings as the bolts were the incorrect size/thread pitch, they were much larger than the the bungs on the new frame.
