Interesting. I would say those are comparable tests from the sound of it. Also seems your surface temp is higher than mine. Doesn't rule out my suspicion that the coating is trapping and also radiating more heat at idle which makes sense if it's primary purpose is gas temps and flow. Again I don't think the black color is helping the radiation situation. Glad I didn't coat mine.

@Dustin you're still running the stock tune? If so how does it feel? Any noticeable bump in power and a noticeable loss in torque dip?

Was your testing mostly highway? That's the only thing I can think of that may invalidate in my data. As for the difference I'm not really worried, merge collectors on my Honda CBR get up to around 340 F under similar conditions and sit much closer to plastics.

Hopefully I'll have some track data in the next few weeks (20-30min session, temp will be taken right after the cool down lap)

Holy mother of RASP!

Yikes. Might want to consider adding a few resonators to that system if you want it to sound good. That's just obnoxious the way it is.

The system has a resonated downpipe and a resonated midpipe. Unless you add like 4-5 more resonators, you need a quieter axleback portion.

Yeah an hour on the highway but then 10 min at idle just like you. The last 10-15 min of my drive was city...

Your results got me curious and so I did some googling.

I think some of the temperature readings may be off due to the color where black will give the true temperature and reflective surfaces (uncoated) may only give an apparent temperature.

This was a good read for me, especially the part where they bake a block of metal with one side painted black and left the other side alone.

Does anyone know if the Q300 is louder than stock muffler? Or is it about the same?

Thx

I would say it is a bit louder but has a much smoother note when paired with a block back exhaust.

I am running the 5" Nameless Axelback and am waiting for my Nameless headers and Injen intake to come in.

Anyone running a similar setup with any videos??
