Salesmen can vary wildly from complete lying dipsh*ts to totally standup, honest-to-God people. My guy flat out told me: "I have no idea. As soon as I hear ANYTHING confirmed, I'll call you up and tell you everything they tell me."

Doesn't hurt to also be introduced to the sales guy from a guy in Toyota corporate though...

UPDATE: Just got a call from Toyota dealership - the system has been updated for orders for GR86 (as opposed to before when it wasn't). Means pricing to come soon.

Subaru's order system opened a month ago, first cars being delivered in November/December....Toyota should be similar.

My local dealers (Tucson) are saying they aren't taking deposits and won't know what they are getting for a few weeks because they have not yet been allocated any cars from Toyota. One dealer explained it as they are able to put in preferences of what they want spec wise for their allocations when the time comes, but they aren't very hopeful they will get exactly what they ask for, stating Toyota hasn't been taking specific orders since October. Is that consistent with what you all are being told?

I heard similar from a dealer as well.

I will note, when I originally bought my Supra dealers were not able to specifically order anything on the cars or request specific ones. I remember that launch editions often did not match the color the dealer had ordered. So I would assume a similar case may present itself here.

I went with George Chau. He was very straightforward and honest. Keep in mind, Toyota hasn't published anything official other than the trim levels so he doesn't have much official information himself (he'll tell you that too).
