Interesting the power is 174kw, I thought it was 170kw, all good obviously. You can spec them out now on the Subaru website and pick the add ons etc. Not many STI parts available.

Its a little bit odd actually.

JDM released at 173/250
US released at 170/249 (which I think is a rounding issue on tq)
AU released at 174/250

We know emissions held back the US version a tiny bit, but unless its an error I'm a bit baffled to AU having 1 more kw.

Potentially an error. Actually, probably an error knowing the history of these cars over the past 12 months.

One thing that's going to suck for the resale is that these aren't P plate legal in vic and I'm assuming NSW too.

Based on the Japanese Dyno threads the wheel power/weight ratio is about the same as the mk7 gti, but vicroads goes off reported KW which is much closer to wheel KW in the golf I think.

Going off the previous TARE to KERB conversion for the 1st gen was 40KG according to Carsales.
I would assume it is the same or thereabouts for the 2nd Gen = 1,289KG KERB is still lighter than the 1st gen TS was at 1,295KG KERB.

The manual premium 1st gen is 1,282KG KERB.

It wont be available for P platers, but you could ask for an exemption - I hear people are often successful.

Subaru said the average buyer was in his 30's, the average P plater is aged between 18 and 21...

When its time to re-sell these cars, there wont be any more of them, or likely any more of their kind.

It will at least be as good as the current car, and if more production issues continue into the next few years, then who knows they might even grow.

Its a 50l fuel tank.

Tare weight is car with all fluids but only 10l of fuel. Kerb is the same except a full tank.

40l of fuel, regular fuel has a specific gravity of around .73-76, higher ron fuel (as is required here) is a little lower at about .71-72

40 * .72 = 28.8kg, 1249+28.8 = 1277.8

Edit: I will admit there is a spectrum owing to how the fuels are mixed or have settled - but even @ a .77 wieght its still under 1280. And again, this is WITH a full spare wheel in the trunk.

1st gen BRZ (2013 MY) was 1216kg tare weight. So 1249kg tare weight on this gen is only 33kg heavier, so not too bad.

Hmm...

Well you got a fatty, cause my top spec GTS 2012 only weighed like ~1240 kerb, I think the Subaru was higher at 1250 because it had the full sized spare, whereas my car was late 2012 when Toyota Australia had already switched to the tire repair kit.

Your calculations are correct, and I wonder why Carsales would have such a discrepancy between both weights. I checked their definition of Tare, and it includes the 10L of fuel as mentioned.

No idea where the other extra kg's are coming from, but happy if it actually weighs less!

It still could be a mistake.

I mean they may have written full spare in the trunk, but its not really.

And its odd that they suggest 174kw when JDM spec is 173. So I'm a little cautious!

For those that have placed an order early, did you get any sort of confirmation that you are in the initial 500 allocation?

I only placed an order at the dealership on Tues and they haven't confirmed it yet.

Not a stock number yet.

What I was told by my dealer is that they will be delivered in order by the date pre-ordered, but some dealers will get more or less allocation and you may have more or less people waiting in line before you.

I was told as of Monday there were about 400 pre-orders set prior to the cars release more generally.

I think if you got in on Tuesday then you have a chance.

Ask your dealer where you are in their line. Do you know if its a Trivett dealership? They do all imports for Subaru, and my guess is those dealership will have the greatest allocations.
