Looking forwards to seeing this one tomorrow.
Lots of potential all-round for a good show. Max baked a cake for DC: |

That last 5 laps…
Tsunoda was really going at Stroll at the end. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, so hard that Sky Sports listed Stroll as finishing 9 and Tsunoda 10 but the points score board had them the other way around with Tsunoda getting 2 points and Stroll only 1. Go figure, eh?

What I got outta my morning viewing.
PER : Good comeback, Welcome to RB #2, deal with the history that brings. Ferrari : not the same team as last few years, for the better. HAAS : Both drivers found enough power to spin. Need to channel that wasted effort. VER : He lost his cool after having to let HAM pass in the wrong spot, wonder if he could have made up an extra 5 sec in his momentum if he did not bother to give it back. McL : may just pick up the scraps for 3rd this year. Go NOR. TSU : What rookie? Impressive for his first F1. STR : Consistent pace , looked mature all weekend. Start 10 finishes 10th. VET : someone should tell him he’s no longer in a Ferrari, OCO is petitioning AM to install the EyeSight option for the next race. HAM: He was too busy desperately trying to win this one that he forgot to complain to control about something. BOT : Mentioning his team screw up(slow 3rd Pit) on the podium… Great end of race as expected. |

Ham won but only because Ver screwed up. The RB is fast no doubt,, Hammy is going to have to work for #8.

Getting tired of the amount of Hamilton plot armor
- Both RBRs have something break - Ham violates track limits at turn 4 for like 30 laps, FIA only enforce the rule for Verstappen - Mercedes f up a pit stop.... of course Bottas - Given the opportunity to put Bottas on an alternative strategy that would basically guarantee Merc victory, they instead choose to put him behind Hamilton - Vettel doing his usual crash just barely manages to avoid a safety car that would have benefitted Max |

Verstappen had this race, but Red bull just flat out blew the strategy. When Hamilton went for the first pit stop undercut, Red bull kept Max out and let Hamilton gain tons of time. Should have pitted him immediately to defend Hamilton move.

I think their strategy was fine given the limited knowledge they have. It's easy to say they messed up after you already know there wasn't a safety car or vsc, what the other teams have in reserve in terms of fuel, reliability, etc. Verstappen had exactly what was needed to win the race in any contingency circumstance. What played out was the scenario where he had to make the pass on track in the faster car on newer tires. A lot of things went wrong in the final few laps to make that not work out in his favor.

In the Friday's drivers meeting they were explained the rules regarding T4, not Merc's fault everyone else was confused by it, though it was quite confusing.
Normal track limit rules were in place for practice and quali and lap times would be deleted. During the race, track limits would not be monitored at T4 but gaining a lasting advantage over another driver would still get you a penalty. Though apparently they didn't consider lap time advantage as an "advantage". Max was told to start using T4 the way the Mercs were, Ham was told partway through the race to stop and said post race the rule changed during the race. The head steward Masi, said that is not true. It is all quite muddy.

I think some consistency would be good, but we are talking about FIA stewards here. That is the biggest complaint. What surprised me is how long it took RB to tell Max to use the runoff. They are usually pretty quick on the gun with doing things like that. I have a feeling if you could be a fly on the wall there was a call to the stewards before hand for clarification on the rule being they were also quick to tell Max to give the place back after the pass.
