I am one of the people involved in the Type-R Club of America. So I am squarely in the demo for the CTR. If I wanted one I could have bought one in 2017 for MSRP. In hindsight I should have just to use a car for a year and sell it used for basically MSRP - it would have been a solid financial move. However my Focus RS at the time was a better car in my opinion so I didn't buy the CTR. I was willing to put up with it's fugly looks if it delivered on the driving experience I wanted. It didn't, so I didn't.

Mostly off topic but Honda also mostly lost me as a customer because they treated a good friend with a 17 CTR like shit and blocked all warranty coverage on the powertrain.. on a STOCK CAR. Because they said the car was modified because their mechanics dirty handprints where on the ECU.. they claimed it was tuned. Normally I'd believe Honda but in this case I knew 100% that the car was stock. Eventually Honda took the car, replaced the ECU at the owners cost, drive the car for a day.. and had it fail the exact same way it was doing before. They finally listened to the owner that it was obviously the wiring harness fault. To this day that car throws a flag when any dealer scans it that they have to contact Honda before performing warranty work.. again on a STOCK CAR.

Okay then? So the car didn't drive how you wanted it to, that's fair, but it's clear to me still that Honda knows who they are selling to better than you do, regardless of who you are.

About your "mostly off topic", I don't really see this as a problem with Honda, something like this could happen anywhere. I think this is more a problem with the middle man between Honda and the customer, which you have explained. Why is Honda going to trust just about anyone and replace things when there is possibly evidence of tampering true or not.

Actually the dealer was good and was replacing parts. Honda Corporate stepped in and stopped the work through the regional manager. That's why it's related to Honda and not a middleman/dealership.The regional manager also pushed back on corporate but Honda's techline ignored that as well. This wouldn't be an issue if Honda used a flash counter on the CTR ecu but I guess they were too stupid to put that in the reqs.

You are probably right that Honda is selling these cars to people that aren't historically Type-R fans. As in basically every other way, Honda is trying their best to become as boring as Toyota is in the US. $$ over anything else. But hey, I appreciate that as a shareholder.

Well that's just all together a shitty situation then. Don't blame you for feeling ways about Honda, I would too.

And as unfortunate as it may be, what sells is what we're going to get, as an enthusiast, I don't like this, but the current CTR meets my needs, mostly. I would like to have a more hardcore, lighter, smaller CTR, but beggars can't be choosers. Delete the tech in the car, give me basic bluetooth and that's it, make it a 2dr 2+2 like old days, make it light and lower the roof line a bit, keep some of the current look (ie front end, edges very edgy me like, big wing, etc)...

The design team started with the fundamentals, imbuing the new Civic with a dynamic shape and sporty stance. Carrying forward the low CG package of the 10th–generation model, including its low overall height and low hip point, designers applied the classic Civic design ethos of “thin and light” body design with a low hood and front fenders, and a low horizontal beltline that grounds the body, accentuating the wheels and tires, and enabling an expansive and airy greenhouse with exceptional outward visibility.

In executing its concept, the team also made substantial changes to the Civic's upper body design to maximize visibility for the driver and passengers, including moving the front roof pillars rearward relative to the driver, to place them more in the visual periphery, and relocating the side mirrors to the doors for a clearer view through the front side windows.

I think it all is an improvement. I think I still like the Accord more, but I dig the new interior and sharp, toned-down exterior.

When I saw the pics all I thought was "Yep, that's a Honda". If I wasn't aware it was supposed to be "new" I would have thought it was just the current model car.

Honestly, in the pictures it looks like it should just be another Accord. Nothing about it screams sporty which is depressing. It's just so average.
