Subaru could have easily modified one of the black horizontal grill bars slightly to allow two screw inserts for plate mounting, allowing the plate to float in the middle of the grill. Bad miss there.

SO many cars have their mounting point over the painted area, some of the best looking ever - old jags, the old supras. |

Honestly for most people this will probably be like the mustache. It’ll be a bit annoying at first, then you’ll get used to it and not mind.

I don't anticipate a lot of aftermarket bumpers, and it's not going to be a cheap replacement.
