I wonder how often that happens though? I usually just tip based on service though, so unless they are being really flirty...

There have been times where I've asked for a waitresses number at the end of a meal after she was being mega flirty. Have only ever gotten one number that way. Normally, after being awkwardly rejected, the tip reflects the fake nice

Who said it was fake nice? Being nice and a bit flirty and giving or not giving a phone number are not the same thing.

Sure they are. When a waitress is going to sit down beside me, and make physical contact with me, whisper in my ear, etc, that has gone beyond simply being nice. More in the realm of sexual harassment, really.

Having worked my way through college mostly at restaurants of one type or another, I rarely don't tip, the service has to be really bad, and I have to know its the wait staffs fault. When I am going to not tip because of service though, I always leave the smallest change I have, and usually a note. If you leave zero, they just think you are cheap and never get the message.

This mostly happens out west, to be fair. Guess some of them must figure I'm a rig pig, making 100k every 6 months I work. The other ones who know I'm poor must be enthralled by my good looks and charm

Thats normally what I tip unless Im a regilar at the place, then i tip 20-25%. Or if I get comped a lot of stuff I generally tip 25-30% or whatever the cost or the comped stuff was. Taking care of the staff at places that take care of me has shown to be beneficial. Granted thats at places i got to maybe 3 times a year, just know the right people.

It's been few and far between that I leave nothing or something very small. In fact, it takes a lot for me to even tip below 15%. Most of the time if I tip below 15, it's because either:

A) every order at the table had an issue (either food or drink)
B) the wait staff was horribly inattentive (there have been times where I've had the waitstaff come to the table 3 times, to ask for drinks, then food, then bill, it sucks)
or C) they've done something to put me into a sour mood (or at least more sour than normal)

I don't tend to be a regular anywhere. Don't tend to eat out all that often when I'm at home, order from Uber Eats when I'm with the GF, and when I'm on the road I like eating at different places to experience wherever I'm at. Except when I was in Thunder Bay. We ate at Montana's almost every night for nearly 2 months because it was less than 100 meters from our hotel rooms.
