Which Coil Is Right For Me?
Hey guys, after doing a whole lot of research, I'm between a couple of options for coils:
-Tein Flex Z -Bilstein B14 PSS (These are very appealing but dont seem to come with top hats or swaybar links, which would be great) -K-Sport Kontrol Pro -Skunk2 Pro-C My budget is $1000-$1500, will go slightly higher IF the quality/performance is higher for a minimal price difference. I dont mind a stiff ride, as long as I wont need a chiropractor after every drive, and I will not track the car anytime soon. I mainly want the maximum street/back road performance possible and getting rid of wheel gap. |

Considering your objectives, have you considered some simple lowering springs? Like: http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/race...l#.Wzm8ePZFwcQ humfrz |

What about the ST coil over? These are pretty much KW V1's. They have fairly soft spring rates. I am on the Flex Z. They are pretty rough on the street, and with the camber plates they come with, they transfer a lot of NVH.

Bilstein for sure. You don't need links and top hats for your application.

what @humfrz said... if you are only seeking to lower the car and not really for performance, just go with lowering spring... its cheaper and it achieves what you need. especially if you are not doing any kind of motorsport.

Stiff/harsh ride means that instead of the suspension absorbing the road and maximizing grip, it's passing it to the chassis with a higher potential to lose traction. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=126107 |

B14's ride pretty similar to stock when lowered <1" as above you don't need anything else (although camber bolts are a worthwhile addition imho). I never went lower but they may get a little harsh as you begin relying on the bump stop.
Other coilovers probably ride better when lowered, Bilstein seems to target that 'oem+' feeling which means that they don't go too far outside the box. |

Yeah, I have changed ride height, spring preload, and backed off the adjusters. It is better then it was but still kind of rough. I have never fully backed off the adjuster as I am not that bothered by it.

It should be smoother than stock, except over LARGE bumps. |
