My wife's WRX won't be seeing any racing any time soon, so don't need high performance pad. Main job for WRX will be carrying baby point A to point B... BUT want just a fraction bit better than OEM. That's why I was looking at Winmax W1 or W2. I live in Utah, so it gets cold and prefer not get into those screeching noise every morning.

Have you checked EBC Green Stuff or just EBC pads in general?

Understandable, yellow stuff would be a good choice but also green. I've read a couple reviews on the forums and most are favorable,it is all a matter of preference really . I used to run them on my last vehicle and I loved them. Very little brake dust, not loud, and powerful stop. Ideal for Daily driving on my 13 Mazda 3. There hasn't bee a need for me to upgrade brakes on the BRZ because I barely have 25K miles on it, and also haven't tracked yet.

I am currently running the green on my Lotus. The Lotus is such a light weight car that it is practically impossible to generate enough heat for some performance pads to work well (yellows). The green are working very well for my application. They work excellent cold, have very little dust, and I have never heard a peep out of them.

Hobart Handler 140. 110v, works very well. Of course the one I have is old, don't know how the newer ones are.

The shop charged 2 full hours extra labor because they had to be "cautious" while removing my bumper because the front TRD extensions were peeling a little bit.

I paid, but I'm asking why that was really necessary. I understand some additional time to be careful not to break them but two hours seems extreme.

edit: they also added time/parts cost for a new exhaust gasket.

Does an oil cooler/radiator install or TOB replacement require touching the exhaust?

I have a Lincoln mig/tig 110v I bought YEARS ago for a rock crawler project I was doing. I got an offer I couldn't refuse, and sold the project about 65% finished. Never did learn how to use it. I even brought it here to Idaho in hopes some day I will learn to use it. It is out of the box, but never even plugged in.

Those Lincoln's are pretty nice for the money. One of my shop guys has a newer one and loves it.

I've had Project Mu Type-NS 400 on the BRZ since 2017 and have been very happy with them. No noise, little dust, and perfectly adequate for street driving.

Dropping the transmission for the TOB would require removing at least the front pipe on the exhaust. Surprisingly difficult to find a better picture, but here is the cat right next to the trans. You might be able to wiggle around it, but I wouldn't try. Particularly if you're on the hook for paying for a customer's exhaust if you screw it up.

ETA: Ignore the circles. I'm guessing this was for a sway bar replacement tutorial. Didn't check.

Does that mean they are good, or a less expensive compromise?

I don't even remember what I paid for it, but I remember it was like $200 off on sale.

Ahhh, thanks! I didn’t realize that’s a connection that needs to be worked on it to get to the transmission.

Kinda wish the shop would explain it but I can also understand why they may think a customer doesn’t care about the nitty gritty.

They are good. The only downside to 110v welders is how thick of material you can weld, they can't push enough amps to get good penetration on thicker material. No welding locomotive spring keepers with them.
