Grass clippings make good mulch around plants, good for a soil builder for vegetable gardens or material for a compost pile. I just dump mine over my back fence and let the neighbor deal with it - (j/k). |

I've considered buying a used one but not to use as a lawn mower. I want to modify it to use it as an airplane tow. My plane is light enough to pull it in and out of the hangar by hand but it would be nice to be able to tow it around the airport for other reasons on occasion.

Why surprised? Is it not being used as intended?

It was my first dabble into Arduino and creating a sketch to run it. I expected some teething issues. I was shocked that it worked as intended in the first go.

Powerful DC motors are scary because the controllers can short closed. If there's a truly fail-safe control system, I haven't seen it.

Random Thoughts - Part Deux [NO POLITICS]
Quote:
On all the motor controllers in my industry there is a fail safe on the throttle input that will open the connection to the contactor to cut power. I haven't had a fail closed incident in the field that caused one to go run-away yet. I am sure it is not 100%. Hell we had an issue years back where plugging in the charger with the unit on and then pressing the brake and throttle would put it in reverse. So I am sure it is not outside of the realm of possibility with our setup. Here is one of the linear actuators that we use from Sevcon that I opened up for that one project I did . The controller needs to see a closed input from this microswitch before it receives a throttle signal.
