Pretty much snowed in (for these here parts) for the last couple of days.

Finding all kinds of food in the bottom of the freezer and the back of the pantry.

Hold on Cowboy, you've been snowed in for a couple days and already touching the bottom of the freezer and back of the pantry.. A few more days and I'll be getting worried for your local wildlife..

Now that I think about it, perhaps you keep the larder light so it gives you the excuse to visit the local squeezes at the grocery store more often.. obviously the strategy slightly flawed when nature has its way..

This reminds me of a story from like, maybe 15 years ago? My grandmother had a 2nd fridge in the garage. For some reason on that family visit she decided to dig into it to find something to go with our meal (not sure what the main food dishes were) and she found a pack of frozen pot stickers/gyoza.

Well, she makes them and I can _still_ remember the godawful, disgusting taste of them. My mom looked at the packaging later on and saw that the expiration date was like 2 or 3 years prior.

And we weren't even snowed in! It was a hot balmy summer Simi Valley, CA day!

Bless her soul, miss her

my sister in laws grandmother does this almost all the time. she grew up on a farm with 5+ siblings, and then had just as many boys of her own, so got used to feeding hungry teens. iirc, she has 4 large freezers that are packed so tight the doors sometimes have trouble closing. she's getting too old now to really host sunday dinners like she used to all the time, but still insists on having all this food all the time.

i think the record is something 7 years old, though i'd need to confirm, it might have been surpassed.

At least now you’ll have an excuse when you shoot your eye out.

Hopefully the lines won’t be as insane as the one or two that opened last year in... Colorado I think? Where they were like one or two miles long and two hour wait or something.

That is everywhere that hypes up shitty fast food. Jack In The Box, Five Guys, What-a-burger, In N Out, White Castle.... the grass is greener. Soon after they are easily accessible in all regions the fad dies.
