Question about extenders

So has anyone used,or are currently using a shift extender? I've always wanted to try and shifter that was longer and Raceseng has these for a cut rate price.

https://www.raceseng.com/extender-100

Just wanted to get someone's take on how it feels to use one,or something similar.

Depends if you like handling long poles or short poles.

Really though, extending the shifter means you're going to have a longer throw to get from each gear to the next. I understand having a sequential shifter high and close to the steering wheel, but not a standard transmission shifter..

Go drive a 90s 5 speed truck and you'll understand

For decades and decades we cut down long shift levers to get a quicker, more precise and responsive shift.
Now they are taking ones designed very well to give you those shifts and people are making them long?
What is the possible advantage to this?

Edit: Dark beat me to it!

For 25 bucks why not try it and see if you like it. I love the height on my IRP.

The IRP shifter also shortens the throw by 60%. The same with the stock shifter height would probably be undrivable.

On the other hand, raising the height by 4" without shortening the throw would cause very long throws and might even hit the console for the odd gears (R, 1, 3, 5).

I am well aware of the differences. People have put long shifters on these before. I doubt it will hit the console. It would be pretty easy to test at home if there is concern. In the end it is 25 bucks, not like you couldn't toss it up on FB marketplace if you don't like it.

As you know, it's not the length of the shaft, it's the knob on the end that counts -

Now, THAT reminds me of the floor shifter on my old 1937 Chevrolet pickup. First gear was anywhere between your right knee and your girlfriends left leg - . 2nd gear was anywhere between the speedometer and the glove box. 3rd gear was anywhere 1st gear was, but sometimes your hand would slip off and try to run up your girls dress -

If I wanted something like that I would spend the $1000 on a CAE Ultra shifter.

I suppose if you wanted the shifter closer to the wheel you could pair an extender with a short throw shifter to offset the longer throw.
