Bilstein B14

Hey. I own some Bilstein B14 coilovers. The only reason I got these were because i got a good deal on them. I have maybe 7k or 8k plus miles on them. I love them. I hated the stock suspension cause I felt it was really “springy” and I had a e36 M3 that was pretty stiff. When I changed it completely changed the car and it holds great around the corners, they’re way more stiff than stock. Idk how to measure how stiff but if you’re doing a lot of highway miles like me, they’re great cause you don’t encounter much bumpy roads where it will get annoying. If you have any questions let me know. I’ll be happy to answer ! : )

Not a coilover, but bilstein B6 and RCE tarmac springs should be on the list. I think I would take that combo over the B14 which has softer springs and a worse balance.

For track use on a decent tire, the KWs, standard bilsteins, ohlins, and a lot of others are a little on the soft and understeery side.

Greddy x KW's setup, however, has a 6k/7k springs f/r, and an adjustment knob, and is around 1400. Think that would be my choice, or the upcoming GTworx bilstein trophy setup.

A little bit more leaning to the track side of things I would include the "Tein Mono Sport" single adjustable track and street coilover.

Although spring rates are more track oriented (8k,9k), I have not seen a bad review for their street manners or their track performance. Seems the damping is pretty well sorted for dealing with those bigger spring rates on the street within reasonable expectations. I have run Ohlins RT on other cars which I really like, but you have to add camber plates, rear tophats, and possibly higher rate springs with the FRS/BRZ/86 set up. Cost adds up quickly already on top of the more expensive Ohlins! I think these Mono Sport might be a perfect "quality-value" proposition.

Amazingly enough you can find the Mono Sport these days just north of $1400 with camber plates and rear top hats included. Think I might try them soon...

P.S.- The CSG spec Tein Flex A also look like another winner too. Can't wait for more feedback on that setup!

CSG spec flex A seems better choice then already dated mono sports.

I run Bilstein B14s right now and they are pretty solid for both applications. FT86 Speedfactory also recommended these for the application you are talking about

I would say this right here will need more clarification.
Because you can get setup that will satisfy both condition, but the "better" one will depends on your focus, budget, and overall setup.

The first questions would be "what tire" are you running.
All season compound would work better with a softer setup, where grippy performance semi slick will work better wither a stiffer setup.

So I think those need clarification before one can realistically make an informed recommendation.

Also, at this price range, I would say SWIFT springs isn't worth it.
SWIFT are great springs, but most coilovers springs do the job very well also.
I would say money spend on better dampers would yield better result than SWIFT springs if you are going to spend the money, but that is my opinion.

As far as MeisterR goes, we have 2 setup current available for the 86.

ZetaCRD+: Fast Road Use, $995 Delivered

Front: Aluminium top mount with spherical bearing top mount and camber adjustment.
Springs Rate: 5 kg/mm

Rear: OEM style steel top mount.
Springs Rate: 5kg/mm

ClubRace: Track Focused Use, $1,195 Delivered

Front: Aluminium top mount with spherical bearing top mount and camber adjustment.
Springs Rate: 8 kg/mm

Rear: Extended aluminium top mount with spherical bearing..
Springs Rate: 8 kg/mm

Which setup is right for you will depends on your preference, goals, and overall setup.

If you have any questions, just let me know and I'll be happy to help.

CSG Spec Flex A is track tested, proven, consistent, and reliable. It has also been tested over a variety of suspension, aero, chassis, and power configurations, as well as, completed multiple road courses, canyon roads, and cross country trips to ensure robustness and valving consistency.
