New to us 2014 BRZ Limited

My wife and I had to trade in her 2002 Celica due to engine issue nobody could resolve. We purchased a 2014 Subaru BRZ. Really love the car. Purchased it Sep 26 2016 and already put 5000 miles on it. 😎

After a couple of week we noticed it appears the previous owner cut the passenger side carpet. Any ideas why they would do that and how to fix it? I have seen posts about the AC drain leaking but so far it hasn't gotten wet over there. We/she runs the AC all the time since we are in the sunshine state and its always hot.

Thank!
Tom and Tita.

Looks like stock to me. They don't carpet clear up under the dash.
You'd only see that if you're really short or lean the seat way back.

The kazoo outlet is just under lowest air plenum bolt there.
I plugged mine up the first week I got the car.

LOL I plugged mine while they were putting my plates on at the dealer. The salesperson thought I had lost my mind until I took her for a ride with and without it plugged.

If you open the glove box and look behind and above it to the right, you'll see a 12 volt outlet. The plug for that fits neatly into the sound tube. Otherwise, a .75" plastic plug from Home Depot works just as well.

The sound tube is a few inches below the left-most bolt in your picture. Just pull the carpet and padding back in that area and you'll see a black plastic fitting with a hole in the middle. Stick the plug in that.

I'm curious now, what does plugging the hole actually do?

There's a sound tube that comes off the intake box, through a diaphragm, and into the cabin. It transports intake noise into the cabin so we can sound all racy and cool. TRD actually sells adapters to change the tone. I blocked mine because I like listening to music instead of fake engine noise.

helps reduce noise in the cabin...the noise from the sound generator doesn't go into the interior when it is plugged up so now you can actually hear your music and engine for properly timed shifts

Wow that's amazing, lol. I can understand people wanting their car to sound louder and cooler

I'm not sure why you think it's fake?

I tried it plugged and unplugged and prefer having it open.

not sure why this has anything to do with hearing music. I can easily drown out all noises with the stock radio.

The idea is to preserve your hearing. Turning up the music to drown out another noise, really isn't a good way of doing things. I'm not even sure I'd want to hear the stock radio turned up.....

Personally, I could care less about the engine sounding "racey". As long as the car performs, racey or not, I'm happy.
