2022 WRX hatch announced
For Australia, at the moment.
So, there's a possibility for North America too then and maybe an STI. I will be much more strongly tempted to trade my 2018 STI, if so. https://www.torquenews.com/1084/brea...k-it-coming-us

I'm really hoping they make a hatch/wagon STi again. Let's hope this isn't an Aus/Japan exclusive.

Looks substantially better than the sedan version. I'd be interested if this was offered here.

Australia DID get the first gen Subaru Levorg.
I wonder why they decided to rename the second gen to WRX Wagon? Maybe the second gen Levorg nameplate was synonymous with only having the new 1.8L turbo boxer? (since it was only in Japan currently) Some bit of bad news, i think I read the Levorg/WRX Wagon while it'll get the 2.4L WRX motor, it will only be equipped with the CVT "performance transmission"? |

Yeah the Levorg was only ever sold here with a CVT and the new one (WRX Wagon) looks to be the same.
It’s basically a rebadged Levorg. Levorg is a shocking name for a vehicle, I mean it’s Grovel spelt backwards lol. WRX Wagon sounds much better and it is basically that anyway. https://www.drive.com.au/news/2022-s...med-australia/ |

Yes this is a major setback from Subaru with all these CVT equipped cars. I don't care if they are calling it now a "performance transmission". For me it is still a CVT. I was a real fun of the brand, but they are losing me day by day.

Lereṭ sounds better imo.
So many ways to play that off. "The car named after a quaint town in the suburbs of France"

Being CVT only means I'd never consider it even if it were sold in the US. Crying shame really.

When chip shortage is over will be looking for a hatch/wagon with a non-stick for the wife, this would be in contention presuming Subaru doesn't fuck up another transmission and actually sends it stateside.
Edit: I'm all in favor of a good CVT that keeps the engine in the powerband when driven hard and optimizes fuel efficiency. Fake shifts and poor reliability when driven hard are the current downsides. Last edited by strat61caster; 10-18-2021 at 05:13 PM. |
