The only info I have read about the 2.4s engine performance was that they had fuel air mixing issues at high RPM and they had a bit of a breakthrough by using more port injection to pre-mix air/fuel before it gets in. Makes sense, Toyotas technology looks to be helpful for more than just efficiency. |

I follow your channel even though most cars dont interest me. What I find interesting is the way this platform generates so many views right off the bat compared to "better" yet more expensive vehicles. Maybe because it's an affordable sports car that looks classy and doesn't have such a loud presence that it brings the drivers self esteem into question?

GR86 first drive reviews thread
First gen looked more like a modern classic, with the curves and unique styling. A modern throw back to classic curves etc.
This second gen looks a lot like a modern normal, normal in the sense that it looks simple and similar to a lot of other cars on the market. The body lines just don’t stand out. I think my opinion will change once I see it in person, hopefully

The body lines are virtually the same, it’s the detail work that’s very different in places. Once people see it in person they realize how similar it looks to the old one because the proportions are almost the same. |

Doubt it given the crickets were resolved in the first gen with the revised fuel pump no?

The new one in my opinion, looks better overall. The old one had more unique bits like the tail lights and certain accents but the new one definitely flows better. I've seen it in person and the pictures don't quite do it justice.

Saw it at wicked big meet, it loses some of the bulbousness it has in pictures but it still doesn't flow at all and looks awkward, mismatched lines like every modern design. It looks simplified and more ricey all at the same time, not sure how they were able to accomplish that.

Its obviously better looking and more of a sports car than a camry, but the new one is definitively sports car. But its subjective I guess. |

What I appreciate most from that angle is how much more clean the lines are between the A-pillar, hood, and front fender. It isn't just a poorly executed jumble of pieces they had to make fit as best they could.
It actually looks finished. They even bothered to follow the hood line into the plastic rain gutter and made a triangle shape. Compared to: Last edited by mazeroni; 09-23-2021 at 08:40 PM. |
