Nah, I was at Clemson doing a research thing. Thunderstorms randomly erupt (more like freaking monsoons), it's freaking hot, the bugs are 2 inches long, and I can't understand what people are saying.

HHI is special for tourist and vacation. It is really nice in that region. For the rest of the state it is just a classical southern state.

HHI is plenty tradition and plenty southern.

Still, I like South Carolina. Not for the bad habits some locals may still hold on to, but for the scenery, cuisine, etc. Pretty much goes for the entire southeastern United States. I love these areas despite their issues.

That's a pretty cool story. I used to love bugs when I was a kid. I had a preying mantis that hung around my yard when I was 8, and I would feed it earwigs. One day my cat ate it and I was pretty sad. Hadn't thought about that in a while...

It also reminded me that I need to go on more adventure trips. Those guys scaled a pointy rock sticking up out of the Pacific Ocean.... at night... looking for some bugs. That sounds so cool!

I picked up a clearance book on SCUBA diving sites for BC and America's Pacific Northwest this weekend. Don't know what will come of it, though. Maybe I'll take a course, like hanging out in kelp forests with giant octopus and end up with another expensive hobby I can't really afford. Or maybe it will be gathering dust by next week. The author is pretty good and enthusiastic, so who knows?
