Canned tunes (OFT) vs custom
My understanding is that canned tunes will be good enough for majority of owners, however, there's still room for improvement since every car is made slightly different. Even on completely stock cars, no 2 cars will respond the same to the factory tune.
My questions are, what should I be looking for in the datalogs to see how well my specific car is responding to the canned tune? Am I looking for AFRs and making sure command AFR is in line with the actual AFR? Basically, what can I see on the datalog to know that my car is responding well to the tune (what are e-tuners looking for)? |

So looking at a few logs, I noticed the AFR can be inconsistent. By fine-tuning the AFR, to be more consistent/smooth, does this result in a smoother power delivery? On a FA20DIT WRX, an e-tuner could just run the tune in full time closed loop. I'm assuming this makes it easier for e-tuners to tune. Can the FT86 platform be tuned in fully closed loop as well? |

That makes sense. I'm coming at this from an e-tuner's perspective. The only thing they can verify is the log, so I'm wondering what exactly they're looking for to do the fine tuning. Probably not a simple answer, so I'll continue reading.
