The big wang can be easily fixed by buying a premium/limited BRZ trunk from the junkyard. The aero kit can be easily removed. The 2018 tS will still hold the most value IMO.

As for the prices of 2018 vs 2020 tS's, I can actually see the 18's being worth more down the road, as the 2020's are lacking the STI aero and dry carbon wing, and didn't replace them with anything.
If the '20 tS had chosen higher impact colors like the previous color series had, I could see them holding almost equal value to the standard color '18's, but I think for most buyers the difference between a pearl white and a solid white won't hold enough difference.
I'm just glad the tS came back.
If I didn't have one already, I'd view this as a second chance to get one, but since I already have an '18 and the '20 offers less than my current car, I'm not going to be running out to "upgrade".

Just realized the 2020 will be the most common tS variant.
300 Ceramic White '20
226 World Rally Blue '18
170 Crystal White Pearl '18
104 Crystal Black Silica '18

At least the watered-down tS is still a better car than the 86 Hakone, which doesn't even get brembos here like it does in every other market.
wet carbon. its resined to a glossy shine

the really hard question I have to ask as I did this to my car

whats it worth to buy a tS kitted car vs an older and updating it with tS stuff?

my FRS was 15k out the door, and i kitted it with about 17k worth of stuff..
If I was going true to form tS only stuff the diff cost me 300 to find. the sti bits and wing where about 5 grand bumper conversion and wing mount 900. and im still well under the 30k asking price.

Hazard to guess a PP Brz would be even easier to get to ts spec.

I regret not buying 18, but at the same time. it was way more cost effective to update the older chassis and now its leagues better. just without the nuances that make the newer cars nicer

Now, if my Frz was totalled out Id probably be looking for a PP car... or a Ts. and i can sell my spare wing for you functional rice lovers

Dry carbon. It refers to the method of construction, not the finish.

Do you have a picture of the tS bronze wheels?

Sure, but no one wants to remove parts they had to pay for that come on a vehicle b/c then it devalues that specific vehicle. Granted, I wouldn't buy any Brz/Frs/86 version for potential resale value but that's just me. If the 2018 does retain its value better I only see that doing the same for the 2020 though. Its the same car with a unique paint vs the generic colors and less available; the way each individual car gets treated will play a bigger role in its resale value then the body kit differences between 2018 and 2020 imo.

My dealer took my money today, so I'll see what shows up in 5-6 months.

Resale value is terrible for the twins, for example:

For the 2016 BRZ Series.HyperBlue with 7,200 miles and 2.5 Years old the KBB offer was $21,500 (MSRP $28,485) or about 25% depreciation.

For the 2018 BRZ tS with 1,300 miles 1.5 years old, the KBB offer was $23,500 (MSRP $34,962) or about 33% depreciation.

So what I'm getting out of here, is you spent 32K total (to include the cost of your FRS) to turn your 2015 FRS into 2018 ts look alike? From your other post, it looks like you got the wheels, wing, front and rear bumper, and tail lights. But you did not the headlights, or aero kit. Perhaps you have these, but haven't installed yet?

No offense, but from what I've seen I wonder how this is the better option. A used car, with part of the job done, for the same price I paid for a new complete car?

In this additional 17K, did you also do all the STI suspension parts? Or did you swap other parts in?

I 100% do not regret getting my 18 tS, over a 17 PP. Not for 1 minute. The finish on the interior was significant enough I didn't enjoy sitting in the PP after I was in the tS. Now with that said, I've wripped out the STI coil springs and dampers, and wheels, to make room for wider wheels/tires to support my power gains, but I've tried to leave my tS look as stock as possible that the vast majority of people think it still is stock.

I bought D-Spec headlamps, because they are cheaper to replace for when I break them

I bought bayson Ts replica body kit, because they are cheaper to replace when i break them

the additional 17K I bought myself a full STX buildsheet worth of modifications as well as alternate parts and setups depending track/course layout. 207 proven whp. with the torque dip shifted over 700 rpm lower and launch control activated at 3500 rpm with a higher redline (7800) to ensure in running at track days I won't face that dip, ever. I even have a 4.3 diff and there is no remote start or auto entry. It's as bare bones as you can get. with a proven and reliable set up. Oil cooler. pickup and baffling. It would be a more solid car than a bone stock 32k tS, which is the entire point.

To which is the lament that a PP car would have been a better base to start from in terms of having the brake upgrade, and the 4.3 diff and the "spicier engine" but at what cost difference? back when i was shopping it was near 8k difference in off dealer lot price. Now.. the margin gets slimmer because resale on these cars is abysmal.

What I did was a better option for going as extensively far as I have with the car OVER a stock car from factory.

Now if i wasn't intending on participating actively with the CCA and HPDE/time trials I would be more than happy with a stock 2018 tS and all the clout it takes to get that. And it's hill start assist ( my ND1 had it and it made me lazy)

Right. Which is why these comments that the 2018s will hold their value better then the 2020s I find amusing. Neither will matter.

Well clearly you have the best vehicle on here, and everyone should follow your plan...to each their own I guess?

I sure do love all the hate everyone throws who doesn’t have a tS though...

curious to see how much faster the Tom's N086 was around a track compared to the normal tS. It looked like they still used a 215 tire, but put them on special Tom's wheels and only made the track 1.5 cm wider.

Proof the chassis is ready for more and the R&D is mostly done.

Who needs GR/GRMN when you have Tom's...

That's insane. I know I paid $25k on mine 1 year later with 4000 miles. It is now worth about$17-19k depending. It actually went up a bit supposedly the past 6 months. I don't expect that to continue.

I actually wish I'd just bought a 13 FRS, I didn't realize how hard the mod bug would bite.

I could be wrong in this case, but in general KBB value means NOTHING when it comes to low volume sports cars. Sure they're dead on for an Accord or Camry or (insert volume car that everyone makes), but when it comes to low volume unique configuration sports cars (i.e. not a Mustang, Camaro, Corvette) their values are way off. KBB says my Cayman is worth $14,000 - yeah okay sure.

I'm not really sure about the value proposition of this new tS. Feel like they should have just called it something else, some other special edition. The 2018 tS was seriously overpriced but at least it was further differentiated from a Limited with the Performance Pack. This new tS, barely seems much different.
