Virginia International Raceway:

Turn 10 would not appear to call for a late apex. I believe Randy Pobst recommends a late apex because this flattens out (bigger radius) the exit radius, helping to ensure that one is cleanly out of the corner at the trackout point and with the steering STRAIGHT and the car squarely settled on all four wheels, not still turning left slightly when the car goes light as the road dives downhill. Straight hands is key, here, as Randy insists.

It's not the turn geometry that calls for a late apex. It is the need to accommodate for the steep downhill beginning mere feet beyond the trackout point that requires this modification of the line. If you're apt to get airborne, or close to it, you want your car as settled and FLAT as possible when you go light. Hands straight!

Hope this helps for those who may have been wondering why this turn calls for a late apex.

Glad to hear you and the instructor are okay. Good on you for purchasing track insurance. I've heard great things about Lockton Affinity. I did purchase track insurance from them once before, but luckily I didn't have to use it.

lol, I dunno why you think a regular auto insurance provider would be more sympathetic to you in a situation like this.

Obviously a regular insurance provider wouldn't be. That's why the joke was "I would tow it down the road first" if u had to call them. Track day insurance is non negotiable with me. Must have

I remember when non-compete events were covered as normal, since it's just a driver education program. Miss those days. They were probably hurried away by the "tow it down the road folks" doing stuff that wasn't covered.
