I verified this on the FR-S at the 1st86 event. The cars we drove had an indention for what appeared to be the punch out for the bulb, but no bulb. The bulb would insert vertically from the bottom.

That's good news! Maybe it will be as simple as adding a bulb and the wiring harness for light instead of having to buy a whole new light assembly.

I agree, caveated with the cars may have been "preproduction" so we won't know for sure until we get one. What would really be nice is if the wiring harness is standard across all models and its a simple mod.

I always make sure to point out to new customers what the rear fog light does and when to use it. For the longest time I didn't know there was such a thing. I just kept wondering why I would see Volvos and german cars with one bright taillight. I thought something was broken! They are really annoying to be stuck behind when the weather is good, but a helpful thing when weather is bad. I'd like to try to wire mine up to make it work.

That's awesome, props to you for educating people!! I too see lots of Jaguars and Audis around my area driving with theirs on 24/7.

I really hope someone produces a clear/white triangle replacement for the rear fog.

I love having a rear fog on my '06 MINI; makes me feel a little less paranoid in bad weather.

Have any of our European friends received their cars with a working rear fog, yet?

I wouldnt mind a white triangle mod either lol.. but as to fog lights in front.. I agree that in many areas you dont need them on.. but I can tell you that where I live.. there are almost no street lights and it gets really dark at night.. add Deer and other animals into the equation.. and well thats why i will be buying my FR-S WITH foglights (front)

So I asked the guys in the UK and this is what I found out.

the rear fog light is on the left hand stalk.
inner ring, forward to turn on front fogs, flick it again and it will turn on the rear, but the selector returns to the front fog position - so flick it forward once more to turn off the rear for light.

My dad has a Cayenne, the rear fog lights are incredibly bright! He only uses them as tailgater deterent, if somebody is a bit too close he turns them on- almost like high beams on the back
