Sounds like you understand what I was trying to suggest.

Alignment, car setup, and driving style can make flipping the tires unnecessary.

I think your on the right track. SX2's as they are dirt cheap and consistent or RS4's if you want a bit more pace/grip vs the SX2's but you can't beat 500$ or cheaper for 245 wide SX2's
