Lowered FR-S Trailer Build

I've seen a few photos roaming around of some lowered trailers to be pulled with a car. Most of the ones I have seen have an axle going across, which I did not like at all. I figured I would try my hand at it.

I am getting my ride height set, probably gonna settle on 6" and the weight of anything I put on will lower it due to the torsion axles.

I am going to CNC cut out an aluminum deck, and then do a custom tongue on my cnc machine.

Then I will have it all powder coated, and settle with that.

I am figuring about 2 more weeks on it, and I will be finished.

Thank you sir. It won't look all rusty when it's finished like I am sure a lot of people are seeing it as currently.

I built and welded the brackets/plates to attach the axles. I have it where it will ride level at 5" empty, and with me weighing 205 standing on it, dropped about 1".

I am looking at a few different tongue options to build, just haven't settled on one yet.

CNC = why. you built two maximum of everything. people these days equate cnc with some sort of magic precision that does not exist without computers. if you aren't building more than 10, "CNC" is just a buzzword to entice the masses.

that being said, nice trailer. guessing you got your trailer axles from northern tool?

When it comes to my 4x8 CNC plasma cut table, I love cutting anything and everything I can with it. So I cut one off parts all the time. Basically because I can, not because I need to.

And thanks. Yep that is exactly where I bought them

Yes indeed, the picture has two random bolts per wheel I had in the shop to fit it and make sure the stance is what I wanted it to be. I will get 6 pretty grade 8 bolts after I get the trailer powder caoted.

Getting closer.

Welded the tongue and hitch. I built the tongue a little low, but I have seen much lower trailers, so it should be ok.

I still have a few gussets to add around the trailer. Then off to powder coat.

Then I need to build a receiver for my car to try the trailer out

Speed Holes.

luvit

What are you planning on towing?
Some random strap anchors on the bed may be useful later on.

Speed holes... yes!

And a bike to go play on or maybe a four wheeler. Really just whatever I can justify hooking it up and using it

I already cut the strap anchors, but haven't welded them on yet. I didn't think about a bed. I may make some brackets to make one that I can add and remove when I want. Good idea

Serious wheel chocks at the front for motos.
Some sort of quick release through the bed so you can take them off to use at the track.
If you're into that sort of thing.

Love it! I am debating building a track day trailer since the cost of a tow rig and transport trailer continue to elude me. But like you I need it to be stanced to match the track car. Looking forward to seeing more pics!
