Is this an exhaust hanger issue, i.e. something that can be mitigated, or does every car with stiffer engine mounts suffer from this? If you've ever heard something metallic roll down the road, like a hub cap or a freakin cooking pot lid, that's what it sounds like.

Did you ever get this resolved??

I remember years ago I put Solid MM on my 3000gt. My uncle who is a great mechanic said they really had to be torqued down a lot. I had them on tight but not tight enough. Everything was great after torqueing them down with a breaker bar.

When I first installed them, the NVH increase was so dramatic that I thought something was wrong so I took it back to the mechanic the next day. He called me back literally an hour after opening saying the car is ready, everything tight, nothing loose. However when you start the engine, there is a very strong initial jolt and I’m thinking that’s what loosened something in the catback. Haven’t gone back yet but I am due for an oil change soon so I’ll ask him to check again. If everything is tight, I’ll get Perrin exhaust hangers and see if that helps.

Did you happen to notice if the Perrin mounts were lighter than OEM?

1.5 kg is as precise a measurement as I could get. Don’t have one of those small scales. Had to use a foot scale. Stepped on it with the mount and then without, subtracted the difference.

Perrin got back to me and said listed weight is 5lbs. So could be ~1.5 loss for both.

yeah I figured the difference wouldn't be much. It's a very hefty mount

It's always better after a bit of "torquing".. clears the air...

My is exactly the same with the new Perrin engine mount.

There are certain load at idle will make some not so pretty noice.

But once RMP is up it gose away.

I will put the car a bit more after getting tire alignment and see how they are through out the rpm range.
