Ok, why do you think that is a stretch? What else would mutate into a new strain?

Clearly not. The risks that come with catching covid are much worse than from getting a vaccine. And that's just risk to YOU. The risks others for you getting vaccinated are zero. The risks to others if you catch it are significant.
We all get vaccinated, we might actually beat this thing. Enough hold back (far fewer than currently saying no) and we're going to be here a long while. Wearing masks. Avoiding each other. Well, if we're doing those things... So risk vs reward says get vaccinated.

*sigh* That's a fair cop.
Hope springs eternal. In the big picture, I think it comes down to making the courageous decision based on the science to date. I see vaccination as the courageous choice in service to my fellow man. I see the continued wearing of a mask in the spirit of the exercise as an expression of respect as much as service. I see not being vaccinated as the puѕѕy way out.

Holy shit am I satisfied w my efforts in inhibiting transmissions. I have no extra desire to avoid humanity and they I. If I can do a better job at inhibiting transmission, potentially eliminate acquisition, and reduce the length the globe is stuck in pandemic by taking a vaccine that has a really high efficacy, I’m absolutely going to do that.
There’s a bright light at the end of the tunnel. I hope we get the fuck outside to bask in it. |

Well, I was bumped out at 8:30 am on Tuesday this week to book a time to be vaccinated promptly since I am in a hotspot area. Then it said all appointments were full and I took the other option, to select a pharmacy in my area which will send me an automated text when they have the vaccine to set a time.
Anyway, nothing is happening so I went back to see if I could book a time thru the govt portal again. I found an availability, clicked through the entire process and now I'm getting vaccinated...on April 25. Truthfully I am low risk but the process should have provided me a prompt vaccination as per our provincial mandate. But of course the govt is only appeasing the public by appearing to address hotspots, which a vaccination in 2 weeks clearly isn't. And the second shot is scheduled same time 4 months later. I'll take it! Vaccinated or not, I'm full gas mask wherever I go. Especially following fat people up escalators!

I'll be glad to be past it, and am hopeful weird side effects don't linger and maybe anxiety and stress start to reduce, but yeah... No changing any behaviors, except maybe some careful family get-togethers once we're all vaccinated. With cases on the rise, it's clear not enough are taking this seriously (enough)

I had a much larger sense of relief after getting the second shot than I expected. It may by false hope of course but I realized how tense I had been over the whole thing for the past year.
