I think some of those might be spikes driven by reporting delays though. It's still not great.

Unrelated but... related? Got my flu shot today. Pharmacy was busy with people getting COVID shots. Not sure if booster or first round, though

The hospital system here has stopped publicly reporting COVID numbers because they are low enough to be insignificant. I heard at one point we had more Labor and Delivery patients than COVID, but that is unsubstantiated. If so, that would be an all-time low from when this started.

Of course, that doesn't mean anything it could spike again next week.

Yup. Just a little complacency is all it takes. I hear Chicago is moving upward again after a very long time.

mrs humfrz and I got our 65+ COVID booster (Moderna) shots this morning, at about 9:30 am.

As far as after effects:

I suffered a sinking spell at about 11:00 and had to kick back in my recliner for a few minutes. Wait one - that USUALLY happens to me in the mornings.

After lunch, I felt woozy and sleepy, so I had to take a 3 hour nap. OK, OK, I usually do that.

To play it safe, I'm taking two weeks off of work to recover - ohhh .... that's right - I'm retired.

Seriously, neither of us had any serious after effects (except mrs humfrz has a slightly sore arm).

Heh. I kinda overheard while waiting that this one lady (around your age, I'd guess) was filling out the form for the booster shot. She must've marked that she got serious side effects from the first time because the pharmacist started asking what kinds of symptoms, etc., and I think she said her arm got really sore. So the pharmacist just answered "no, no. that's a typical side-effect of all vaccines. You don't need to mark this box just for that."

And I'm sitting here with a pretty sore arm after just the flu shot today .

Oh, I have had many shots in my time and find that they are all about the same as far as making your shot body part sore. Except, the dreaded "peanut butter" shot. I've actually seen soldiers pass out from taking that shot. Just stay out of the military - you will be safe -

Is the Bicillin Vax, goes in your buttcheek and it hurts like a bitch. We called it the PB shot because the liquid is very thick, and you'd think your body would absorb it well, it doesnt, it creates a big lump on your ass and you can feel the medication like a pair of pliers twisting your butcheek. Mind you, you get this while you're at the very beginning of Basic Training, where you are required to sit a lot, run a lot, stand a lot, walk a lot, its horrible.

sounds like something they should give you on a Friday afternoon so you can recover a bit but I'm guessing they don't give weekends off in basic training

Nah they wanna get immunization out of the way as quick as possible. Plus it's a skill builder.

Still not as bad as the shot to the left testicle.
