Last weekend the Scifi channel played all the old Star Trek movies in order. I had not seen them in many many years.
Some take always that I had.

1) Star Fleet must have had a totally astronomical uniform budget since they apparently completely changed the uniforms on a short term and random basis.

2) The bridge displays went backwards in quality. Wrath had displays that were pretty crisp and legible but by Search they had some basic line diagrams and a virtually unreadable font.
Mind you even in Wrath they were headed down that path with this gem

Also begs the question on how or who changed all the displays in the events between the movies. Did they really change everything while in dock for a ship they were going to scrap anyway?

3) I understand they can't always get the same actors but at least attempt to explain why Saavik completely changes appearance and personality (well the Vulcan equivalent to a personality). This is scifi they could have done a one liner saying she went through some Vulcan change of life or something.

They solved this problem by the time of Picard (30 years after the end of Next Generation). Now all the controls and screens are hologram displays that are interactive and appear to have haptic feedback.

Also, all displays are the see-through floaty type. I never have quite understood how that's an improvement.

Sample, no spoilers.

That's because It's gratuitous special effects that have nothing to do with the story. It's there so we don't have to choose between seeing the character, or the screen.

Same as space helmets that light up the character's face.

Lol I love when helmets have lights on the inside. Mostly I just wonder if the actor can actually see what they are doing.

Also stormtrooper armor that's clearly useless.

If you like Jason Bateman, profanity, and Rachel Harris in a really obscure role, this movie is for you.

Bad Words on HBOMax

I also loved The Pentaverate. The finale was some of the best "Laugh-In" like material I've seen in a while.

You mean like, "You bet your sweet bippy!" and "Sock it to me!" from 1968?

I think he meant political and topical satire.

I can't quite put my finger in it but it had a rowan and martin / austin powers feel to it. I just found the whole censor attempt hysterical. but then again I loved the chicken fights, car chase through the mall and Peter falling down and hitting his knee sequences in Family Guy.

I really want to like this show but, I need subtitles to get through the thick accents and my interest has a bit of detachment.

Waco mini series on Paramount+. Not bad so far, pretty talented cast.

Watching two shows:

Obi Wan Konobi: Watched first two episodes so far. Enjoying it but the plot to a minor extent is a repeat of the Mandalorian's first season.

Orville: New Horizons: After the first two episodes I think it's gone downhill since Season 1. Too much emphasis on long CGI sequences of flying ships, the soundtrack, while beautiful, is distracting, overused and overwhelms the scenes, and most of the acting has no depth. Seth McFarlane shows absolutely no range in his character.

Well in all fairness Seth McFarlane only plays Seth McFarlane no matter what the part or character may be.
