I go to a hobby shop in Kalamazoo once every couple of years. You do not want to live there no matter how much fun it is to say Kalamazoo.

Hard to believe that Michigan is the only state where that happens. Georgia comes close. The Chattahoochee River divides a good portion of NW Georgia from the rest of the state. There's only a short distance between the headwaters and the NC state line that prevent it from "qualifying".

Personally I always wanted to live in Moon, KY, either there or Big Beaver Lick, KY. Used to drive through both on the way to my Grandparent's farm right outside Versailles, KY. (pronounced "verr-Sails" not like that French place)

Kalamazoo isn’t so bad. There’s… umm… and… uhh… okay there’s a lot of nothing but it’s halfway between Detroit and Chicago, the dragstrip is 25min North and Gingerman is 45min West.

More curiosity than anything else. Since rivers and bodies of water are often used as state boundaries it doesn't completely surprise me.

Florida is split east to west by Lake Okeechobee and the Okeechobee Waterway, which is navigable from the Atlantic to the Gulf and is freshwater. That probably doesn't count though since a good portion of it is man-made.

Illinois is split by the Illinois river up to the man-made canal that links it with the Chicago river which (used to) drain into Lake Michigan.

Missouri is divided roughly in half by the Missouri river.

I'm guessing there are other states.

Connecticut river splits Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Maryland and Pennsylvania are split by the Susquehanna.

New York has the Hudson - Erie Canal system if you count some man made waterways.
