Rev bouncing in first?

Sometimes when I put the car in first from stop, the car would jerk and and I would see the rev meter bouncing up and down. Is it the way I am driving?

I read on other forums where it could be an issue when around 1k RPM and the ECU cuts the fuel on and off. I did not pay attention to the actual RPM I was at because it only happens sometimes. Could it be that I am not pressing the clutch all the way to the floor?

I am looking to improve if it is the way I am driving if it’s not the car’s fault. Any help is appreciated.

If I am reading what you said right it sounds like you just are not giving it enough gas. What is happening is that it is almost stalling and then recovering giving you that bouncing. It is called "lugging" and is bad for the engine. Give it just a bit more gas and all should be fine.

I do not think I am lugging because I feel the rpm bouncing above 1k range? I feel the bounce even tho I am putting a steady amount of gas. But maybe when the car jerks, it makes my feet unsteady and reinforcing the bouncing?

Are you letting the clutch out to fast and the car jerks for the first 2-3 seconds?

That could be the case? How I usually switch gears is that I press the clutch midway and then switch the gear and try to quickly ease in the clutch.

Full clutch in for whole shift. Never half way.

Would it be better if I mod the clutch pedal and reduce the distance to bring it closer to the floor? Would there be any negative side effect of doing this?

There are several clutch mods in the tech section here. As long as the pedal fully disengages the clutch there is really no limit to what you can do.
One of the more popular mods doesn't change the points but makes the feel better. Check it out here:

Push the pedal down more, move your seat up if you need to. Try releasing a little slower on first until you feel it grab and pull the car forward a bit. That may help with first gear. Sounds like your engaging just a tad to fast as you get rolling.

And keep the revs up a bit higher. Don't need to redline it or anything just don't let them drop too low.

When revving to first I usually try to keep it from 1-2k rpm. Is that considered too low when the gear actually grabs? I feel like any higher would wear out the clutch more when trying to engage slowly.

1500 rpm is what I generally use and release clutch slowly for1st gear and 2nd gear.

The only stuttering I've felt that I think is comparable to what you describe (I'm not totally sure) is when I'm starting from a stop and I lift the clutch just a smidgen too high and it is almost like the clutch is "skipping" between contact and no contact. So like, if I lift a .1mm more, the car will stall.
