I have the same problem. It makes trying to pull out in traffic down right scary.

Oddly enough, I don't have this problem running Stage 2, 91oct, v2.06.

I have the FT86speedfactory catted UEL header, btw

I've tried the 2.0 beta version of the STG2 91 tune for a couple of weeks and it was pretty friggin good. didn't notice any hesitation. Although the stg2 tunes can really benefit from a MAF scale tweaking.

True, Maf scaling was very important

I think the tune is great other than whatever is causing the hesitation. It only occurs when attempting to accelerate rapidly from a stop. It feels like the gas pedal is dead and doesn't accelerate despite the throttle angle. I found this problem trying to make a left turn across 55mph traffic. Had I left less of a gap, I would have been T-boned for sure since the car decided not to respond to the throttle input.

Do you think you can catch it in a log? Maybe it can shed some light if you logged both the throttle angle and the throttle position along with some other crucial sensor data. Also, I've read people complaining of a dead pedal after they reflash, but it goes away after they put some miles on it.

I doubt it. I can try but it doesn't happen every time.

I am weeks or months after the flash. I may just try to reflash. This should be easy... What changed with 2.0x that
would cause this? @shiv.

i know that @shiv and @steve99 have mentioned that if you are low rpms in 1st and try to floor it, the car will hesitate due to knock. even on stock rom these cars are knock prone in ver low rpms if you floor it or give it alot of throttle. try searching for it in this thread

Can anyone clarify two points for me?
  • If I am running 93/94 but with 10% Ethanol (screw you, Iowa), should I run the 91 or 93 stg 1 tune?
  • If I have a 2.5" Perrin Intake, should I use the Perrin-provided MAF scaling (as I did when running 1.59), or does @Shiv@Openflash's substantial modifications to the MAF scaling in 2.X mean I should use the defaults?
  • No matter what the answer is above, its still a good ideea to do manual MAF scaling to tweak the above values?

Thanks

Sorry don't have much experience with the MAF scaling but for your first question, I got a lot of knock running the 93 oct stage 1 tune with 93 octane fuel (also 10% ethanol). Now I am running 91oct tune with 93 oct fuel and have no problems with knock and honestly, the car feels much faster and smoother on the 91oct tune. The easiest solution would be to just data log using the 93 tune and see if it knocks because if you use the 94 fuel, that might be good enough.

I also run 91 stage 2 uel tune on 93 gas and only get a random occasional knock in my logs. Great gas mileage, feels powerful, all around awesome tune. Its worth sacrificing 2-3 hp for a healthy motor IMO.
