Would you buy Mitsubishi?

A friend was shopping for a new DD, he's interested in the lancer because of the low price and financing plan. I'm trying to persuade him to choose anything but Mitsu, they're going down hill fast, and their products suck. Even the Evo X's interior looks like the lowest priced lancer. As a former mitsubishi lancer owner I had the unpleasant experience of owning one.

Worst thing that happened to me was when my car wouldn't start. There was a recall on my 2009 lancer where the relays would rust and be constant open, easy fix so i dropped off my car for about 3 days, and then I get a call from the dealership saying they are shutting down and I had to pick it up. I asked WTF you guys didnt fix my car!? Apparently the dealership was broke and my car just sat there. I had to pay a tow truck to tow it from one dealership another dealership in town. Guess what, they closed down too!!!! even after I called to book it with them This was only one of many things troubling the car.

Anyways, i ended up fixing my own car. F*ck that Mitsubishi 160,000km and 10 year warranty.

Sorry I had to rant, worst manufacture/car ever... For those looking for a mistubishi. Please do not buy one

Sounds like the OP had a bad experience and now swore off the cars. I had a 02 lancer oz rally. Switched the interior for the Recaro evo's seats. Great handling and decent enough pick up for something so underpowered and basic. Yes, it wasnt the best car in its class but it served me well for 200k before I sold it for the Brz. I think the latest generation is awesome, especially the Evo. The Lancer I would own over a Civic. It may not be a more reliable or better built/equipped but it is the most exciting car in its class IMO.

'02 Lancer OZ Rally and great handling do not belong in the same description.

Only if the new owner planned on doing ALL work themselves (or at least felt confident in being able to do it as a last resort).

Honda it ain't.

Only evo/lancer as a DD.

All others.... maybe a mirage for a beginner driver. None else.

Although, if I was looking at Mitsubishi cars it'd be because I had already looked at most car makes and models and didn't like any.

When buying a new car I'd go:

Toyota>>>>>Nissan>>>>Honda>>>Subaru>>>Ford>>Hyunda i>>Chevy/Mazda>>Mitsubishi/Chrysler>>Suzuki/Isuzu or whatever

List preference due to owning reliability my family went through, then looks and mpg.

I'd drive the fuck out of an Evo X. But that would be the only recent/current Mitsubishi I'd be into.

In fact, I should have bought one of them instead of my FRS
