Cop radar detector

I was thinking a great place to put it was in the small useless tray next to the USB/aux ports. You could cut out the top of the tray to mount the light and an on/off switch. That way you would never know it was there.

Where would the sensor go? Run it around the windshield trim and drop it in the top corner of the windshield?

Thoughts? Product recommendations?

v1

I have a Valentin V1 in the driver sun-visor with a Bluetooth app on my phone mounted on the driver corner window. Love it!

Pics of this? What's the point of connecting it to your phone?

I've been looking for a radar solution that doesn't involve mounting it on the windshield or anywhere visible. I like some of the stealth solutions BMW and Corvette guys have done.

Its not quite as stealth as i've wanted but i'ts hardly noticeable. The phone is the display so cars behind me wont see the classic "radar lights" and tail me. With my phone the radar is blacked out.

Valentine Research makes a remote "concealed display" (the next to last item on this page) that fits right in that hole between the start button and the auxiliary input. I know this because I have one, and out of curiosity I stuck it in that hole and had a damned hard time fishing it back out past the rubber lip.

The concealed display duplicates all the indicators on face of the V1 radar detector and blacks out the radar detector itself so that people behind you can't see the lights at night. The body of the radar detector holds the sensors, so you still have to have it mounted in your window, either by the suction cup mount or on the visor. The display will mount directly on a V1 cigarette lighter power adapter, but that doesn't do you a whole lot of good in this car.

I've been planning to mount mine in that tray. It's almost a perfect fit; it will need just a bit of padding around it to position it perfectly. My plan is to run permanent power from the fuse box under the driver's side panel to the remote display mounted in the tray, then from the remote display up through the passenger side A-pillar to the radar detector mounted via suction cups at the top of the windshield. I have all the parts I need, just haven't gotten around to it. V1 supplies power cable, which is just RJ11 phone line, but you can make your own custom length power cables by getting an RJ11 crimper and connectors and cutting the cables to fit. I actually got my crimper and connectors at a thrift store for $1.

I'm also considering relocating the clock unit to make room for a slimline oil pressure gauge, but doing that would necessitate losing the airbag indicators on the right side of the center console since the clock, hazard switch and airbag lights are all on one circuit board. If I make that happen, I may cut a hole and move the V1 display to where the airbag indicators were, since it's almost exactly the right height for that bar. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how to do that, though, so in the short run the V1 display is going into the hole next to the aux input.

Also, here's a pic of the app YEAHdams is talking about:

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

escort offers something like this, I think it's about $1000. puts the sensors in your front bumper.

I've got a 9500 ix that is mounted really high and out of the way on the windshield, never see it unless I'm looking.

why are you concerned with it being visible? In my case you can't see it from the outside unless you know what you're looking for

Hope that worked. If I was gonna spend upwards of 300/400. I said screw it and went for the best. Even got the Saavy module. Not as useful for me as I live where the speed limit changes rapidly. Might even sell it but idk. Pretty badass getting the auto mute win other ppl are in the car or playing music at a civial level.
