Sitting at Safeway for my first poke of Moderna. Hopefully side-effect free

I believe asymptomatic people are slightly different because they can become symptomatic later, so that delay can shift that timeline forward, but a positive PCR should start the clock in a similar way. These people can show positive tests for months too, but I’m pretty sure it is far less likely that they will. Just to cover all the basis, exposed people who have a negative test should shelter for quite a while because the onset of symptoms or viral ramping can take a while, and a negative test a week or so after exposure is ideal, but the testing accuracy is only 65%, so two negatives are nicer than one. It isn’t 100%, but it is better than one.

On a side note, is Johnson & Johnson the same company as AstraZeneca or do all vaccines (except maybe Pfizer?) potentially give you blood clots? Curious if it's the same company or just a similar style of vaccine? Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk |

Dumb question.... why has the jansen vaccine been halted after six severe side effects when there are more overall side effects being seen / noted with Moderna and Pfizer?

Well, because this is a side effect the authorities don't understand since it did not show up in the trials.

I thought by now you know the differences. If not, I recommend listening to that podcast I linked earlier this morning (or reading the transcript). It goes into pretty good detail on how the mRNA approach works.

Without knowing their reasons, my guess is probably severity and exclusion criteria. Blood clots are far worse than an allergic reaction to manage and potentially identify because they could mean a CVA, STEMI or PE, which can be life threatening at worse or potentially permanently debilitating. Like Spuds said, they don’t know, and they need to know the mechanism and be able to identify and exclude people from the vaccine who are susceptible. With the allergic reactions, death and debilitation is far less certain, and it is easier to identify. Most people with PEG allergies will know and those with unknown/unidentified sensitivities won’t go anaphylactic.

Big one so far seems to be that it needs to be treated differently than common blood clot protocol. We'll see. I'm in for my second tomorrow. So many mixed feelings. Wife gets her second on Saturday. So many people yet to go.
