Quick question on dealer price checks

Hi guys!

I was wondering about how much the brake pad's [oem non TRD all 4] cost at dealer? What about if they do the swap? My compressor is down atm.

I found 'em for about $130-$150 online for the set of 4 an am tempted. My brake pads wont give me another 5000 miles

changing out the pads is easy. jack up your car, take off your wheels, take out a 14mm bolt from the caliper, rotate up the piston and slide the pads out of the retainers. really simple.

If oem pads lasted only 5K miles, then my guess is that you do visit track? If so .. maybe worth trying out some pads a bit more track oriented then stock ones?

I think he is saying he has less than 5k miles with his current pads until they're toast. I would definitley upgrade anyway though, 500 gets you a Stoptech F+R kit of lines, pads, and rotors. I'm at 67k with OEM pads and still going, plan to replace them by 80k.

As long as you're not doing brake fluid, pads and rotors on a Subaru are very easy. Brake fluid is kind of easy; it just needs another person or speed bleeders.

I'm gonna go ahead and do it myself, just wondering on cost. Dealer charging me $254 for all 4 pads... INSANE.

Online $138 cheapest. Dealer in SoCal(?) charging me $169.

I have about 10k miles left according to shop I visited today,so until then I'm gonna keep looking for cheaper price.

How many miles total? When I pulled my oem pads at 35k they looked almost new still, especially the rears. My aftermarket rears are going on 70k and still have life even. Fronts lasted 50-60k

Just parts. With labor $517.

5MM left on rear, front is 7mm????????? That's according to printout I got from shop.

Going to measure myself tomorrow during day for accuracy.

Dealer says 3mm and 5mm....
