Damn that is high! I contacted jackey @vividracing at vivid today to see if he could get them and how much they would be. I was thinking they were gonna be like $500 ~600 at max. We need to get a group buy cause 1k is crazy. Hopefully he comes back with a better price than that lol.

Someone should contact japanparts and nigel for pricing as well. But It's not available yet either way so not sure if accurate pricing to us would be available yet.

And i'm kinda diggin those Rotas. Tough call considering I have my Advans finally going into powdercoat though....

Damnit, the louvers look way different than on the concept. I loved the low-profile design of the concept louvers on the red car. This facebook photo looks like they have fewer slats and are bulkier. Still, we will wait and hope for the best. Exciting!

True, the original pics look sleeker/more modern. These more recent pics look bulkier/more 80's original style. Any updates on US availability or pricing? Any vendors on the forum want to chime in if they plan on carrying these louvers?

Yeah, the reason I fell in love with that original concept louver was because of the sleek design. If the production version is bulkier, it may be a deal-breaker for me. But we shall wait and see. I don't think anything beyond that "coming soon" teaser photo has been announced.

From what I have heard its going to be around 1k shipped from Japan, haven't heard anything about USA availability. Still waiting on a final quote from Japan. Although they definitely look different from the original concept.

I really need to see them from more angles, but I'm not falling in love with the production version nearly as much as the original prototype.

We have been working on making a set inspired by the original concept louvers. Might have to keep going down that path rather than buying these. Wonder how many people would be interested in something non-factory when this TRD option is available....

I think a lot of people would be interested in an alternative to the TRD version if the price were less.

Agreed, the prototype style I would have bought sight unseen. The production version, I would need to see in person before commiting, which may be an issue.

If @bestwheelbase or someone else comes up with a set that matches the prototype, I'd be much more likely to get those. I have no need to have them say TRD on them, I just need them to be just right.

The sad thing about the louvers is the damn slot missing where the 3rd brake light is. Since it was not designed for louvers... it suffers. Oh well >_> maybe a 3rd party needs to take over and design us some louvers and a low profile 3rd brake light kit!

I noticed that too. It must be related to CHMSL visibility requirements. This reminds me of the last A60's losing the louver option in '86 when CHMSL was mandated.

For the design I am playing with, I have thought about integrating the third brake light into the louver. Modern LEDs come in all sorts of convenient sizes and shapes. Doubt that would make it to production, simply because it adds cost and complication, but I might do it for myself just for fun. Of course this may all be immaterial if we get some better shots of the TRD piece and we all fall in love with them.
